IVF #1 - BFN
So I took a HPT test on Saturday (9dp5dt) and got a BFN. Today was my Beta and it was also a BFN. The doctor is suppose to call me sometime tomorrow to talk about options. I have a lot of questions for him, but have not seen him since the ET. I am especially aggravated that they did the ET knowing the eggs were poor and (maybe) fair quality. We have a 15K max on our insurance and the RE billed our insurance 5K for day of the ET (I am not sure what the negotiated rate is - hopefully not 5K).
I am not sure what we are going to do at this point. Do we jump right back in and get bloodwork done on CD3 so I can start Lupron on CD 20 or do we skip this month....ugh! As of now, we are waiting to see how much of that 15K is left...

Re: IVF #1 - BFN
First of all, I'm so sorry!
After my failed IVF the RE mandated that we take a month off to give my body a rest. Likely you'll do the same. Many women do not ovulate the cycle after they were hyper stimmed so it's good to let yourself normalize again.
I am definitely not a dr but from what you described last week, my guess is it's a sperm quality issue, not an egg issue. If that's the case, they can try IVF again and hope to get better sperm this time. Definitely find out from the embryologist when your embryos experienced problems. As I told you before, egg dna is fertilization through day 3. On day 4 sperm dna kicks in. If the embryos looked good on day 3, but not days 4 and 5, then it's likely sperm and not egg issues.
Good luck and keep us posted!

Re: IVF #1 - BFN
I am so sorry your cycle did not work ! It can be frustrating.
To answer your insurance questions I have 30k in benefits, and I've had one fresh cycle and 3 frozen cycles. My RE has billed my insurance for example 13,500 for the fresh cycle and in total UHC has paid out 5k something for everything. The doctors can bill whatever but their is an agreement that they have with the carriers to where they accept whatever they pay and the difference is "written off or ignored". So I have another 25k in benefits.
I go for my beta tomorrow, dont need to already know BFN since I last POAS 8dp3dt. I am now 11dp3dt so I am already preparing myself for that call and want to hurry up and get a follow up appointment. I want to switch RE practices since I am not conceiving at my current one, but DH wants to wait them out so I am in limbo

Re: IVF #1 - BFN
Thanks Ladies. Of course yesterday we see one of DH's friends is pregnant with baby #2 and they just had their first about a year ago. So we have been trying to have one in the time they were able to conceive 2 - it is just so frustrating. It just adds insult to injury.
NYCGirl80 - Those are the questions I am going to ask when I speak to the doctor/embryologist. The problem is we are using frozen sperm so there might not be any "better" sperm.
TyReseGreen - We also have UHC so maybe it will work out similar for us. Our meds are covered by my insurance so none of that is factored in so that is good. My DH's insurance covers the actual procedures. Medical issue are so complicated.

Frozen sperm in and of itself should be fine. I was more referring to whether he had specimens frozen from separate samples, there's a chance you'll find better sperm. There's even a chance of better sperm from the same sample. You never know. Otherwise, you still have options. See what your dr says. Good luck again!

Re: IVF #1 - BFN
Thanks for thinking of me.
No, I did not get to talk to him today. He did not call me like he was suppose to and I was at an all day meeting so I couldn't make the call before the RE office closed. Tomorrow I am going to call during work and see what he has to say.
The only good thing about today was I went for a short, super easy jog to clear my head. The nurse said I could, but to take it easy and stop immediately if I felt strange. It felt good to do something "normal" since things for the last 4-6 weeks have been anything but.
