It's snowingggggg :)
Nothing here in Floral Park. The dusting we got on Christmas Eve was enough for me. More of an inconvenience when you have to commute and It takes hours to get home.

I love the snow too! It's not so fun to drive in or deal with, I get that (some people on here are harsh!), but it's so pretty and we've hardly had any winter to speak of this year. so I'm excited too.

I love the snow too! It's not so fun to drive in or deal with, I get that (some people on here are harsh!), but it's so pretty and we've hardly had any winter to speak of this year. so I'm excited too.
I would love it too if it didn't cause people to get into accidents, and in turn worry about myself, DH and my family. I would love it if no one had to leave the house in it. I don't think anyone on this thread has been harsh, just realistic.

I think some posters were harsh and you don't. 
Just because some people enjoy the snow doesn't actually make it snow. Don't see why people seem to be getting defensive/angry about it. But maybe it's just me.

I'm so happy there is snow! Just got a new Subaru Outback and I am anxious to see how it handles in the snow.
That and I am longing for a snowman on my lawn.

So my friend left work at 8 pm last night and got stuck on the Sagtikos because the road was closed. Sat in park from 8:10 to 9:20 pm while the cops dealt with a bad accident that closed the road for that long.
I am sure the people who were involved in that accident (hopefully everyone is ok) and all the people who had to sit for hours trying to get home thought the smow was SO pretty and exciting too.
Yes, I'm harsh, I know.
A harsh realist.
I just don't see any upside to something so dangerous.
It's like saying a tornado is pretty.
Sure it looks cool- but you can keep it away from where I live!

It snows in many states and people just learn to deal. If people on this island weren't so self centered and only worrying about where they need to go, and how fast they can get there, it wouldn't be so dangerous.
Its winter, you live in the Northeast. Deal.
..and before I get jumped on, I wasn't saying any of you are self centered and are speeding in the snow. General statement

Well I love the snow too and I wish it would snow here in MD!! We haven't had any yet...I don't care if it makes me a 12 year old, I adore a good snowstorm, mostly for my kids sake..I love seeing them get excited about it and playing in the snow. Right there with ya!
Some posters sound so CRANKY! Geez.

And NO, it is not fun to drive in..I understand that. And it's not fun to shovel. BUT once in a while, a little snow on the ground is nice...it's nice to see my kids having a blast with the neighbors kids and playing outside in it for hours. We were all kids once who loved a good snowstorm. I dont wish for nonstop back to back snowstorms, but one is always nice. This winter has been so disappointing here!

And yet, not 300 miles north, they have snow EVERYDAY from on or before Halloween through April. They don't have accidents every day. They don't have big beefy snow tires.
How about we take our time and learn how to drive properly, rather than lashing out at the poster and taking our wrath out on the weather.

Exactly! I grew up in the midwest, and it snowed often. Never had snow tires, and the roads were DIRT which is worse than the pavement. But, always took my time, drove slow, started to brake well before the light, stop signs, etc. and made out okay.
Just slow down people and all will be well

I REALLY didn't mean for this post to go the way it is going but I am going to have agree with you! YEs the snow can be dangerous IF you don't know how to drive in it .. However we do all live in the Northeast here right?? If you don't like the snow or it's THAT much of a hassle for you and gets you THIS upset and Nasty then maybe it's time to fly south... Ugh

I had NO idea a thread about snow could turn into drama, but hey why not!
I find snow very pretty and I love some snow on a day I get to be curled up inside with a book, or when I don't need to go anywhere so I can take the dog out and play. I don't like commuting in snow. I also don't like commuting in rain, just because it's annoying and wet and soggy.
I will say that growing up somewhere that has far more frequent heavy snows, I do think it tends to be more dangerous here just because many people aren't as prepared for or used to driving in the snow. Growing up, everybody I knew got snow tires in October. ILs and DH looked at me like I was a loon when my first winter here I asked about snow tires.

i was very surprised pulling into the parking lot at work this morning. I live in southeastern nassau, had to scrape my car free of ice and snow this morning... got to work (garden city) and all the ground and all of the cars were clean!
