Is/Was your shower a surprise?
After being on the fence about having a shower, my mom has decided to throw one for me. Right now, everything is a surprise. Part of me would like to be totally surprised especially b/c I knew about my bridal shower even though it was supposed to be a surprise. I live in CT, but my shower will be on LI where my family lives.
My mom asked me when I'm planning on coming down to LI in the fall. I usually visit my family as least once per month, but we have no set plans to visit in the fall yet. I know my mom wants to surprise me, but I realize it may be difficult.
Were you surprised about your shower? Did you suspect anything? Were you wearing a dress/nice outfit? If it ends up being a surprise, I think I may have bring a dress with me every time I visit my parents.

i was surprised for my bridal shower, so i wanted to be prepared for this one - especially since preggo mood swings are so unpredictable
plus we decided to make it a jack and jill shower... very relaxed and informal, just people getting together to eat, drink and hang out. i can't wait!

Mine is not a surprise whatsover. In fact, my sister started off having me choose the menu, she e-mailed me the invitations she chose and asked me to help with wording and she obviously told me where it is gonna be. In fact, she updates me daily on who responded. There are no secrets in my family. I don't mind though.

My shower was a surprise- but I wish it wasn't.
I had an outfit specifically picked out and was really upset that I wasn't wearing it (hormones). You know how it is- that ONE outfit that makes you feel less like a whale, even PRETTY vs. the outfit you wear when you think you're just going out to lunch with your mom.

I wasn't expecting a shower at all. It wasn't even as if I made a list, gave it to someone and said "have these people here." Dear friends took it upon themselves to make me a very nice and warm shower and included my sisters, ILs and aunts/cousins. It is exactly how I would have planned one for myself.
I am still taken back by their generosity.

yes and no.....i suspected it but my dh can definitely dish out a long line of fibs and so i was getting confused as to whether my suspicions were right but when i got to the place i just knew and then it didnt help that i saw my mom before they announced to the guests that i was coming but im not that into surprises so i was fine with it not working out completely

I begged my MIL to tell me when it's going to be. I can't stand surprises.
It was embarrassing enough when I showed up to my bridal shower in a college sweatshirt and jeans--with leaves all over me since I had been outside rolling in them with my nephew!

Yes and No.
It was meant to be a surprise but my sweet cousin spilled everything thinking I had already known. So technically it was meant to be a surprise. But I knew. I never told anyone that I knew. My mom and MIL think I was very much surprised and I dont want to spoil that for them

NOthing is ever a surprise for me.....lol
I personally don't mind it. My parents live out of state so it's hard for them to leave me out in the dark. So, with that said my bridal shower was not a surprise and neither will my shower be.

my bridal shower was a surpprise although i pretty much figured it out....
for my baby shower, i am requesting that it not be a surprise!!
honestly, i just dont want to go through the whole charade of suspecting and then pretending not to have any clue.. and then everyone at the shower has to ask " did you know!?!?!? did you have any suspicions??!!?!??! "
i jsut want to show up when the guests show up...and wear something really cute!

I thought I was going out to lunch with my mom, sister, and aunt. I had THOUGHT my shower was the next day.
What totally sucked was that I had actually bltched about my mom insisting on holding the shower on a Sunday when a Saturday would have been more convenient (we live OOS and had to work the following Monday). Well- the shower really was on a Saturday.
Man, I felt like SUCH a heel...

For me it wasn't a surprise I am way too controlling on how I wanted it to be and there was no way in hell I would have been able to look decent all the time (as a just in case) especially how I have been feeling.

Yes, mine was a suprise. They told me it wa on the 27th and then threw it on the 6th. I was totally shocked, they got me good. I was a little disappointed it was on 4th of July weekend b/c alot of people already had other plans, and I thought I was going to someones birthday party, so I didn't wear the dress I wanted to or do my hair or makeup as well as I would have

Mine is going to be a surprise which annoys me kind of. I just want to know when and where so I make sure I don't look like a a wreck that day but god forbid my DH tell me the date and if I so much as mention it to my family they tell me not to worry. SO annoying!!! I wanted to offer suggestions as to what I would like but my sister pitched a fit, told me to stop bringing it up, and that everything would be taken care of. I'm sure it will be a wonderful and beautiful day but I don't give a flying fig about making it a surprise, I don't want to be surprised at 7 months pregnant. I just want to know when so I can do my hair nice and where something where I won't feel like a cow. Is that too much to ask????
