Is this normal with potty training... A little TMI
DS has been doing great all day. No accidents and when he had to pee he went on the little potty. There were a few times I can tell he had to do number 2 so I immediately put him on the potty seat. Just passed gas and a few... Sorry for the TMI, but sharts. Anyway, never made a poop, and never in his 3 years has he made a poop anywhere else, but a diaper except for tonight. He pooped in the tub. I knew he was a little embarrassed too and never said anything. We just said it was an accident and he was ok. We've only been potty training since the weekend and he's been doing ok, but did number 2 in his pull ups. Totally caught me off guard and my whole bathroom has been bleached. Anyone else go through this? Is this normal? How do the do number 2?

I have not experienced this but I'm sure someone may have. For most children poop is the hardest part of potty training.
I don't really have much advice. May be you can make him comfortable on the potty by letting him read a book or letting him play with his 'potty toy'. You can buy him a toy and let him know he can only play with it when he's on the potty. This allows them to sit on the potty for a longer period of time and relax which makes pooping easier.

I don't have any firsthand experience with this, but I'm thinking maybe he had been holding it in for a while for fear of doing it on the potty and then when he was in the bath the water relaxed him enough and he couldn't hold it in any longer.
My son held it in for 4 days when we started potty training and we had to give him miralax to help with the pooping on the potty fear. Once he did it two or three times, it was smooth sailing from then on.

Re: Is this normal with potty training... A little TMI
We started about a week and a half ago. About 4 days into it he pooped in his diaper at like 6am (that I was sneaking on and off while he was sleeping!). I think it's right up the alley of your situation because in ds' life he has NEVER pooped in his sleep or even before like 9am actually. I think it has to do with not getting it all out or holding it in.
Now, he has not had a single accident in 3 days and goes to use the potty on his own. The only time I am afraid he will have an accident and I ask him to go is when he is so focused on playing something or a show and I can see he has to go but isn't moving.
We did have a few accidents this week though where he went to the potty, pooped, and then pooped in his pants a little more like 5 mins later. I keep telling him to stay there and make sure he is finished!
