is this normal? re.. sleeping patterns.
So my DS now 5 months used to sleep till 4am. but over the last few weeks literally everynight he wakes up at 2am.
is this normal to go backwards i guess you can say?
my other son sleeps great, he went 10 hours straight last night. i stopped waking him up to feed him to keep them on the same schedule. it is acually working out better .
but i am so confused as to why the 2am everynight. is this a phase?

teething? 
Jack still wakes between 3-5 once, but we just go in and give him his paci and he goes back down. We no longer feed in the middle of the night
I think he is waking now from teething pain  im pretty sure a tooth is going to come through soon, he's in agony by the end of the day but Ibuprofen helps!

Carolyn.. yea they are 1 month early so that definietly makes sense.
Linda.. so you think i should CIO with him during this time and not feed him ? wait for him to go back to sleep?
Karin.. i was wondering if it was teething too.. i keep feeling his head, putting my finger on his gum.. its so weird!

does he take a paci?? I dont' remember.. just rock him back to sleep. If you start feeding him..he'll eventually get in the habit of "needing" that bottle.
You can always try motrin or tylenol and see if that works.. just in case he is in pain. If he still wakes.. you know it's not because of pain and it's just a regression.

Yeah, sounds like sleep regression. I wouldn't do CIO at that age, but don't feed him. I'd soothe him back to sleep without feeding and see if that works.

thanks Lauren and Linda.. i actually had no idea about holding off on feeding him.
i wont CIO , like you said i will soothe him back to sleep.
oh and no, he doesn't like the Paci.

yea i was actually thinking the same thing.. i never take him out of the crib.. i dont want to wake him up anymore than he is.
i wish he would take the Paci..
but i totally get the not feeding him cause then he would expect it and get into that habit

does he have a lovey? we started giving jack his bear lovey and it calms him, he plays with it until he falls asleep. sometimes ill leave a wubanubb there for him to play with (even though he uses MAM pacifiers now)
try MAM paci's if you want to give it a try again. they are the ONLY brand besides soothie that jack would take and now thats all he will take

DD is doing the same thing. She went from sleeping through the night to waking once maybe twice a night to eat. I'm just going with the flow, because she's obviously hungry (belly is grumbling).

Mine were basically off the paci by that age. I introduced loveys around 4 months and that really helped. Maybe try patting, shushing, rocking (without picking him up, like just rock his body a bit) and see if that works.

DS did the same thing around 4-5 months old. He had a bad night of teething one night and I made the mistake of picking him up and nursing him back to sleep. He's now 6 months old and back to waking up 3-4 times a night again after STTN since 8 weeks old 
I am just building up the courage to do CIO because he won't go back to sleep without nursing now.

DS loves MAMs also. I finally got him to take it by trying the bigger 6+ ones at 3 months.

Totally sounds like the 4 month sleep regression. DS went through that too. It's awful! We would feed him, attempt to soothe him back to sleep, keeping him in his room.

Caroline slept 10-11 hrs a night from a few weeks old til about 4 mos. Then she was all over the place. We are just now, at almost 6 mos getting back to a good sleep pattern. We have been doing a modified CIO when necessary.
