Is this common??
The people who are buying our house want to come over one day and measure for window treatments and blinds? We were going to leave the blinds.
But cant they just wait??
Our closing date is May 20th.

I'm sure they are super excited to move.
I personally would wait, but that's just me. I felt like I was intruding even for the inspection, even though it was necessary. Sorry, I know it's a pain. Hang in there.

while we were in contract, we came over to the house and measured all the rooms, met with contractors, etc.
I think something like blinds can wait-- especially since it's not like the windows will be bare, but everyone is different in what they feel they need to have done.

We asked the owner if we can come over to measure the rooms so we can order the proper furniture, he had no issue...our house was vacant though.

They might need to order furniture and are trying to time delivery when they move in.
I did this but our sellers didn't mind.
The blinds could wait, they are probably excited.

I agree the blinds could wait.
We came went over once to measure for furniture. We had to make sure 2 cribs etc would fit in the babies' bedroom.

While we didn't measure for blinds/window treatments, the previous owners offered to have us come by one night to measure the rooms for furniture. It was extremely helpful to be able to plan ahead and make sure our furniture was going to fit. Plus it was exciting to see our soon to be home one last time before closing! (Our final walkthrough was after closing since they were staying in the house a few extra days).

Blinds could wait, esp if you have window treatments already.
Its nice to have them measure for furniiture. If you feel like it thats a nice thing to do.
When we bought our first house we would never think of measuring for furniture at all.
Second house, the sellers were the least helpful people I ever met.
They NEVER would have went for that.

The people who bought our house asked to come over and measure a lot of the rooms. It was interesting to hear what plans they had already for the house. They also wanted to go over what to expect bill wise for certain things. I think it's fairly common.

Yes, I think it's pretty common to want to measure rooms and be as prepared as possible when you do a move. You don't know what else they may have going on in their lives and maybe they need to do as much as they can now.

It's a courtesy that most sellers allow.
If a home is occupied, I always tell my buyers that we can go back once to take measurements, see the house again, etc., but we can't go back multiple times as it's not their house yet and we need to be respectful of the sellers. But I would be taken aback if a seller balked at having the buyers come back at all.
I would just pick a convenient time for you and let them do it, even if you think it can wait. Good feelings in a real estate transaction go a long way!

Thats a nice way to do it...at least stating they could go back once.
Ours came back twice already (deal died anyway) and we said we had a longgg road ahead of us anyway, so how many times did they think they were going to keep coming.
Let me add thy stayed over an hr EACH TIME, in addition to the inspection AND the first showing.

Last time our buyers came when the inspector came they stayed for @ least 2 and a half hours. I have 2 toddlers. Im NOT entertaining them, and the fact that she practically got drunk with my liquor It is all packed away now, so she cant drink this time.

OMG same thing here. I forgot to add that...in addition to what I ststaed when the inspection was done it took about 2 hrs and they stayed another hr afterwards!!! I have a toddler too, kept her out the whole time, but come on!

Granted I don't know how your buyers were or what they put you through up until that point........... but I think you're getting annoyed over nothing.
Lets start off with, this is the biggest purchase of their lives, not by a little bit, by a long shot. multiple 100,000s
and in general, people see a house only a few times, then they get to sit for a few months filling out paperwork, providing this and that to the bank where they're essentially signing their life away for 30 years.....
meanwhile wondering A) what the sellers have done to "their" house, and B) what the house really is like b/c you've gone over it in your head so many times you doin't know what is reality anymore.
assuming these buyers disappear, think about how many hours of getting ready for showings, actually having showings, open houses etc that would be needed to replace them.

Yes its common.
When we bought our house the owners were VERY nice to allow us to come by and do some measurements for furniture, etc.
But it was only one time.
I will say that I would be ok, as long as I wasnt terribly innconvienced to let them over a few times. People want to visit the new house they just bought.

I think it's common. It happened with the house my parents sold.
As long as I was given a few days notice, I wouldn't mind my buyers doing this in my home.
I'm not sure if I'd have the guts to ask to do it in one that I just bought though even though I'd probably like to since I'm a huge planner.

Wait... the buyer actually drank your liquor in your house???? W.TF? That's very inappropriate IMO. Whenever we went to the house, the sellers were very gracious and offered us water or a cookie but I felt uncomfortable taking anything even though they offered. And I wouldn't sit on their furniture or anything. I came to the house for a reason (inspection, measurement, etc.) and not to socialize! I mean, we would talk with them because it turned out that the husband is friends with DH's cousins who live in FL (SMALL WORLD!!) and they all had been to some of the same functions back in the day.
