Ugh...I just accidently deleted my whole postChat Icon

I'm thinking about maybe having an backyard party for Xavier's Christening. I just need to price out everything but I have a feeling it won't be much cheaper than a restaurant.

If I decide not to go that route would you ever consider having DC#1 and DC#2's party at the same place? I was very happy with the food and service at the restaurant we used. Of course I would rather have it somewhere different but I just don't think I have it in me to look for another place. I've had a horrendous week...maybe that's why I feel this way.

I don't think it's stupid at all. I would totally do it in the same place.

I did both of mine at the same place. It was easy to get to from the church and the food is really good. I didn't hear any complaints through the grapevine and a few people flat out told us they were happy it was there again. Chat Icon

This is my own feeling on having Christening parties at home ( and I am a HUGE at home party person for every other event Chat Icon )...

The morning of a Christening is so hectic....Making sure baby ( and other DC's) are napped, packing the diaper bag, getting baby dressed, pics w/ Godparents etc.. etc...

There are always tons of prep work type type things to do for an at home party (whether you have it catered, waitresses etc..., which IMO you cannot do without if you go that route unless you have an awesome family that will step up) There's just always "something" that needs to be done...Last minute things like ice, garbage cans, decorating outdoors which has to be done in the morning etc...

Then...there is the "weather" thing...Unless your house can accomodate that many people, a Christening is not like a birthday party where you can have a rainate ( well you can I guess but it gets tricky)...yes, you could get a tent but then thats added stress , not to mention the $$$ aspect of it...

And in the end, when you add it all up- it doesn't come out to a heck of a lot less ( if at all)

Sorry for the long winded rant Chat Icon , but my BFF contemplated having her DS's at home and I gave her my take on it...She ended up booking a place and thanked me profusely in the end ....
Again, it's only my opinion and why I chose a place for my DC's but I'm sure whichever you decide will work out beautifully Chat Icon !!

(I also think there is nothing wrong with using the same place and actually think it would be sweet to celebrate at the same place !)

I totally get what your saying!! I get very stressed when i'm running late trying to get the kids out of the door. I could see it being a disaster...lol. Danny also said it would have to be a HUGE price difference for him to agree to it which I know won't be the case.

It wouldn't even be at my house so I wouldn't want everyone in the house except to use the bathroom which there's an outside door to.

I think it's fine. We had both of ours at the same place.

I have a great caterer if you need one. She did DD's Christening at our house and is doing Alexandra's as well.

It was a pretty seamless process and I didn't feel overwhelmed at all. She serves the food, and does the clean up. And the food is delicious and mush less than if you had it at a restaurant.
