Is this a phase or do I need to change his nap schedule myself?

DS is almost 13 months. We have/had a pretty good routine and he was taking 2 naps a day.

Nap #1- 2.5 hrs after wake up, he naps for 1.5 hrs

Nap#2 - 3.5 hrs after waking up from nap1, naps again for 1.5 hrs

But, last 2 days he has refused nap#2. Will stay in his crib babbling, banging, throwing his paci (which is only for naps/bedtime) over the rail, etc. And now today, he was in his crib 45 minutes before falling asleep for nap#1Chat Icon

What gives? He's asleep now finally but the the F is going on? Should I try to transition him to 1 nap myself? Bedtime is at 7:15/7:30PM once DH gets home. Phase?

Sounds like he may be ready to drop to one nap a day. DD transitioned to 1 nap at 13 months old.

my DD is more or less a one nap girl....

sometimes in the PM or in the AM.. if she naps 2x its RARE.

i would transition to one nap, that would fall between the 2 naps you had scheduled for him.

BTW my DD gave up her 2nd nap more or less around 13 months old as well... she is 15 months old now

THe average age is 18mths to transition to 1 nap. I transitioned around 17mths.

Sometimes they go through a phase for about a week. If it continues then you may want to go to 1 nap, I think it might be a little early though.

Same with DS.

I would try to push back the AM nap by an hour and see what happens.

Sounds like it is time for 1 nap. DS transitioned to one nap at 14 1/2 months.
