is there any evidence about what is more damaging to hair
bleaching (going blonde) or perming (going straight to curly)
does anyone even perm their hair anymore?

I don't have any evidence as to which is more damaging, but I know that the perms they use today are much better and not as harsh as they were years ago. That's what my hairdresser told me.
Every once in a while, I think about getting a perm. I loooove curly hair, but then I get a flashback of the perms I have gotten back in the day, and the idea goes away.
I have been highlighting my hair for years it has caused no damage to my hair. I make sure I use a good conditioner and I try not to wash everyday.
