Is it possible to remodel kitchen under 15k?
12 x 14 kitchen
no new plumbing or anything like that, just new cabs/countertop maybe floors...

sure i did and my kitchen is 12 x 20
you can save money buy buying semi-custom cabs with veneered fronts instead of solid doors (but sitll get plywood upgrade on the cabs)
laminate instead of granite
we installed everything ourselves to save $$

i did all new plumbing and electrical and cabinets and flooring and it was less than that. My kitchen is close to the same size...oh and all new appliances and we spent less than that. We did all the work ourselves though.
ETA. We have solid wood fronts and granite.

Are you redoing the entire kitchen? Ex- all new sheetrock, electric, etc... How many cabinets do you need? If you want I can get you some good prices on cabinets and granite. If you want let me know..

Totally possible but you will have to shop around and may not be able to get all the upgrades you want. We did ours for well under that but I pulled in a lot of favors and was thifty in many areas. Ours was a full gut job with a lot of plumbing, electrical and a tile backsplash. Our labor price was amazing and they did fantastic work but it took forever because they did it between other jobs. My dad was able to get me our cabinets wholesale which was a huge saving.
Some easy places to save:
Cabinets - Look at non name brand cabinets. Even if I paid full price for our cabinets they would have been significantly less then Kraft Maid or the other big names. They are just as good quality if not better then the stuff you see in stores. All Plywood, lazy susan, pull outs, crown molding etc.
Floor Tile - I got floor tile from Lowes for about $1.50 a square foot.
Backsplash - I wanted a full tile backsplash with some mosaic tiles but did not want to spend the prices quoted. I got an inexpensive ceramic tile for the majority of the backsplash and 12x12 sheets of mosaic tile from Home Depot that DH cut into strips.
Recessed lighting - Go with old work contractor cans, they are inexpensive and typically just as good as the name brand. Most of the name brand trims will retrofit into them if you want something more custom.
Appliances - Wait for one of the big sales. We picked ours up Presidents day weekend and saved 30%. We could have gotten an extra 10% if we openned a Sears card too, just didn't want another card.
Granite - I really wanted to do natural stone and it was my one big splurge. Shop around at a few local yards and tile places and see what you like. I highly recommend Granite Emporium (They used to be on Conklin in Farmingdale, just moved to W Babylon) We got our slab at Stone World and were pleased with the price and service.
ETA A link to our kitchen photos from start to almost finished. I didn't update it with the final photos yet because I have a few last minute things to do but it is mostly done now. If we payed retail for everything, this would have cost significantly more.

Yes- our Ikea Kitchen (with an island, all stainless steel appliances double oven, range hood, exhaust fan, and big fridge) cost us under 9000- we also purchased during a 20% of kitchen deal. DH also assembled and installed the whole thing on his own, and he has had no experience with that and said it was easy.
We got our granite for 2700 through all marble and granite corp in Jersey.

We got our cabinets from Consumers (Kraftmaid)
Granite and tile for floor was from Below Wholesale Flooring in Lindenhurst (granite is mid grade)
All the electrical and plumbing supplies we got at HD or Lowes as well as all the drywall and paint. Appliances we got at PC Richard the day after Thanksgiving (so I got an amazing deal)
The only thing we have left to do is a backsplash but all in all I say we spent 12-13K.
It took about a 3wks to month but thats only because we were waiting on deliveries and it was during February and we had the appliances, cabinets and granite all delayed due to snow.

yes we did for just over that with 6K of plumber/electrician/sheetrock-drywall
not sure if you can get them anymore - but I bought friends and family coupons on ebay for HD. used one for each of my appliances (even at lowes), cabinets and tile.

we did our entire kitchen, floors, cabinets, appliances and counters for under $3000.
We did have a 25% off your entire order at home depot for the appliances and we bought the least expensive appliances which we havent had a single issue with.
Cabinets are from Ikea, floor is laminate on clearance from lowes.
Counter from ikea, butcher block.
New backsplash also from Lowes and we painted.
We installed the floor, cabinets by ourselves. DH has a cousin who is a plumber and an electrician, so they came and did that work for us.

I have a small kitchen - it is galley so it is not very wide, but it is a good long size. I got Kraftmaid cabinets from HD (I got one of the highest finishes) but they were having amazing deals and they came to about 9k. I got granite - I will suggest Napoli in Seaford ( I didn't get mine there but my sisters did) They have x amount of colors on sale a month and it works out to $2000 for the first 30 sf - which is amazing
I found my wood floor at lumber liquidators on sale and I couldn't be happier. We also gutted the kitchen, ran all new electric and plumbing
When all was said and done with new appliances form PC Richards(on sale after a holiday) we prob spent 15k
We did all the ork ourselves and with our amazing family.

We paid 13k in labor alone. The total kitchen cost $40k with appliances that cost $6k. So it would have cost us around $20 without labor and appliances.

It is definitely possible. We did ours for right around that price...we got cabinets/appliances/countertops from Ikea. We had some electrical done, new flooring, a wall removed, new sheetrock, and we had everything installed. We just painted and did the backsplash ourselves. Pics in album if you're interested.

Yes! You can save $ by gutting and installing yourselves. There are tons of reasonably priced cabinets and countertops out there. Visit a some kitchen design places and have them do a few different layouts.

Ikea is def. a place to check out for kitchen remodels.
Also, PC Richards has tent sales. PC Richard in West Babylon has them in August. There is usually a little something wrong with it but it saves you a lot of money.
And there is another PC Richards in Deer Park I believe & they have a Clearance Center year round
And there is a Sears outlet center in West Babylon on Montauk Hwy. Good Prices.
Doing the demo yourself helps in the price. And anything else that you & your family & friends can do really saves you money. Also buying all the stuff you want & then hiring a handyman or a contractor to install only will save you the extra money that they tag onto the products.

Yes, I have a small L size kitchen and my contractor told me that we could totally do it for that price or less. That's with a new window, and moving the plumbing for the sink to another location.

I'm not sure if a San Diego based contractor would come to LI to do an under-15k kitchen....
