Is It Me????
As many of you know my aunt passed away this week. I was talking to DH and expressed how saddened and let down I was because my in-laws had not called to give me their condolences. I'm not asking that they make me the center of their universe, but out of common courtesy....say something. Leave a message, anything. Dh states his mother told him to tell me that they were sorry to hear about it. To him it's the same since we are married. Ok, would you call your FIL to wish your MIL a happy birthday. I just think it's so rude of them

Sorry. Personally, if I were them I would have gone to the wake out of respect for you. When anyone in my family, such as my aunt by marriage whose brother passed and I never met in my life, I still went to the wake out of respect for my aunt and uncle. A phone call or card is the least they could have done!!!

not at all. If there was a loss in a friend's family, I would recognize it. Since DH adn I are family adn I am therefore related to his family and he to mine, any loss in an extended family member should definitely be recognized. I would be hurt too.

Seriously, I just think this is so rude! I'm not making a big deal out og this because reality is DH is not to blame for his prents' lack of manners but IMO that's just not normal.

When my dad just recently passed only my DHs fathers brother and his fathers parents acknowledged this. We are newly married 5 months but, have some common courtesy. SOmeone told me recently "Forgive but always remember"

I definately think they should have called you to show respect. Its like you said, you would call your inlaws for their birthday..the least they can do is call with sympathies. Its not right for them to tell your DH that and for him to pass the message along to you. Sorry about your aunt!

Same Here! My inlaws have come to wakes for my family, even before dh and I were married! They are so good to me, I cannot even describe it!

I don't think expecting a phone call would have been too much from them. You are their family and hurting over the loss of a loved one.
