This is my house as well. I've come to realize that my DH is more or less a slob or oblivious. I am pretty sure his mom did everything for him when he was little. Luckily, my 3 year old son now gets on his case when he makes a mess. He likes things nice and neat just like his mommy. He is very good about picking up his toys and playing with only a few toys at a time. My sister has three kids and they like to dump things out so I know I lucked out - lol!
I usually leave after my DH to go to work. I make sure everything is in the dishwasher and the counters are wiped down - it takes like 5 minutes. If he leaves after me, there are always dishes in the sink and empty cereal boxes on the counter. Drives my *$(%*$($ insane. I wake up at 4:30 in the morning to go to the gym and get me and my DS ready and out of the house by 6:45 - somehow I have time to put my stuff in the dishwasher, but my DH will say that he was in a rush.
I literally could've wrote this whole thing!!!

I'm okay with messes in general (like my DS' playroom has had legos and blocks all over the floor now for 2 weeks), but dirty food bowls left in the sink and not put in the dishwasher drive me insane. I do not need a pest problem. The same goes for messy counters. He just leaves coffee rings and cereal crumbs all over the island. Wipe it up!
Coffee grinds...all over the counter!! Cereal bowls in the sink with milk still in them!!! Cereal box on the counter. Glass NEXT to the sink! At this point I told him "I don't care if you put it in the dishwasher, but put it in the sink and rinse it!!!!"

We do basic cleaning after dinner, but that's about all we can muster. We both work FT and have 2 small kids. I have cleaning ladies who come every other week and they are my saviors! (Though the house is basically dirty again a few hours after they leave  )

I think it's most houses with people living in them.... lol I do love my house when it's clean.
I have given up on the toy room- I just close the door to that mess- one day my stuff will be mine again and I can have a coffee table and breakable items until then it's like paw patrol vomited all over the place....
and what is it with pillows- can't they just leave the damn pillows on the damn couches????

Try having your EX husband there in the morning getting the kids off to school! He is a neat freak but could not care less about cleaning up after himself at my house. But he feeds them breakfast and makes them lunch so I keep my mouth shut  Drives me nuts though because I clean every night and come home to a bomb!

I have friends and family that can't go to sleep unless the kitchen is clean. I never had that problem. They kept telling me that they felt so much better.
One night I decided to stay up and clean the kitchen. . . .the next morning I woke up and didn't feel any better. That was the last time. If something is a mess and I'm tired, I'm going to sleep. I'll deal with it tomorrow.

I'm always sweeping the dirt & dust from the floor & yet it's always filthy immediately after. I'm always wiping down the counters & in no time they're gross again. I'm always picking up clutter & organizing stuff yet there's always crap everywhere. I thought I was doing something wrong, glad to hear I'm not the only one with this problem!!!

So for some reason something I learned in High School Science always stuck with me.
It was called Entropy. It pretty much means that matter will always tend towards disorder.
I always think about that when people talk about and I see how things just get filthy, dirty, messy and disorganized 5 minutes after cleaning.
It's entropy people! You can't fight the universe and scientific theorems

Omg I feel you. I'm always buying new gadgets and baskets and bins for organizing and taming the chaos like I'm suddenly going to become Martha Stewart. I bring them home and just leave them in the shopping bag where they sit on the floor forever. So, the stuff I buy for cleaning and organizing just ends up adding to the mess and the clutter and the mountains of unfolded laundry. I have a problem. I wish I was a neat freak.
Love this. All my sisters are damn neat freaks and they drive me nuts as much as i drive them nuts with my messiness lol
But that meme about a messy house is my children making memories... no my messy house is me not giving a shit about stuff all over lol

I've taken to just living out of the laudry basket. Eventually I use up all the clean undies in there and they are back in the hamper- so I saved the step of putting them away. Bam!
