I clean up after dinner, counters , stove, floor, garbage. I'm the first one up and I leave the kitchen and bathroom nice. I come home from work and it's like a bomb went off. Stains, crumbs, dirt...

So I clean before I make dinner in order to clean up AFTER I make dinner to do it all over again.

Not just you. I'm pretty sure all I do is clean crumbs 100 times a day. Yet it doesn't even feel like my kids eat food..

No, my house frequently looks like a war zone.

Is it just my house?

Nope. Not just you. For example, I cleaned my dresser off yesterday afternoon and by night time it looked like I had never touched it.

Re: Is it just my house?

I'm home all day and my house stays clean until my kids get home from school and my husband gets home.

I cleaned my girls room yesterday while dh took them to the park. I went food shopping and when I came back it looked a war zone. Every drawer was open, toys every where. I sometimes want to cry but that won't clean up the mess.

All I do is clean and nothing stays clean more than a few minutes unless I'm the only one around. Dishes, crumbs, stuff, etc. I swear I pick up my throw pillows off the floor at least seventeen times a day.

Re: Is it just my house?

I feel it overnight. Before going to sleep I leave the kitchen clean, but when they leave in the morning, the sink, counter and kitchen are a mess. I have only one DS, DH doesn't eat breakfast and mine is only coffee; so I really don't get the mess at all Chat Icon Chat Icon

YesChat Icon I unpacked my fall decorations yesterday and everything is missing parts or hanging together by safety pins. Not to mention none of it stays where I put it.

Is it just my house?

This is my house as well. I've come to realize that my DH is more or less a slob or oblivious. I am pretty sure his mom did everything for him when he was little. Luckily, my 3 year old son now gets on his case when he makes a mess. He likes things nice and neat just like his mommy. He is very good about picking up his toys and playing with only a few toys at a time. My sister has three kids and they like to dump things out so I know I lucked out - lol!

I usually leave after my DH to go to work. I make sure everything is in the dishwasher and the counters are wiped down - it takes like 5 minutes. If he leaves after me, there are always dishes in the sink and empty cereal boxes on the counter. Drives my *$(%*$($ insane. I wake up at 4:30 in the morning to go to the gym and get me and my DS ready and out of the house by 6:45 - somehow I have time to put my stuff in the dishwasher, but my DH will say that he was in a rush.

OMG thank God. I really thought I was the only woman on the planet who didn't have the need to clean. To tidy. To get annoyed with her husband for being messy.
I really think sometimes I am missing some vital female gene or hormone.
I am so glad I am not alone!

I'm okay with messes in general (like my DS' playroom has had legos and blocks all over the floor now for 2 weeks), but dirty food bowls left in the sink and not put in the dishwasher drive me insane. I do not need a pest problem. The same goes for messy counters. He just leaves coffee rings and cereal crumbs all over the island. Wipe it up!

Oh trust me, I would LIKE a neat, clean, organized house. If someone did it for me, I wouldn't mind it at all.
I just don't care enough to actually do it.

Since I am the one who leaves things around the house, I now have a dump room. That is where everything goes (unfolded laundry, shoes left out, mail, etc) and the door gets closed. He started it for me because it was driving him crazy. I would love to go through the mail right away, fold and put away clothes as soon as they come out of the dryer but who has time for that? Not me!

Omg I feel you. I'm always buying new gadgets and baskets and bins for organizing and taming the chaos like I'm suddenly going to become Martha Stewart. I bring them home and just leave them in the shopping bag where they sit on the floor forever. So, the stuff I buy for cleaning and organizing just ends up adding to the mess and the clutter and the mountains of unfolded laundry. I have a problem. I wish I was a neat freak.
