Re: Is it crazy to time a pregnancy? Need advice.
TTCer here crashing - DH and I are both 30. We attempted to "plan" out when we wanted a baby. I am a teacher and wanted a baby over the summer so I wouldn't have to take off. I managed to convince DH to start trying in June for a March baby. It took us 4 months to get pregnant. I finally found out I was pregnant in September, I was due June 19th. It was perfect timing. I wound up miscarrying. I was pretty adamant about not wanting a December or January baby. Well here I am now looking at the possibilty of having a Dec baby and I don't even care anymore. I just want a baby.

The thing is...you could start trying when he wants to (in a few months) BUT you may be in a situation where you don't get pg right away, putting you right back at the same position.
Why does he care so much about timing?
Like a pp stated.."We make plans and god laughs".
If i were close to 40 i wouldn't be messing around with time, but that is just me. Yes, there are women who will tell you they got pg quickly at 40 or after, but it isn't easy for most (From what i've seen). I would get going!!

i successfully timed pregnancy.. twice! its definitely possible but you have to be open to the fact that it may not work out the way your intend. in fact, in most cases, it doesn't. good luck!

DH, my first child and I are all born in the winter.
When DH was young, he would have bday parties and very few ppl would show up 'cus it's a winter party. DH doesn't want our child to have to go through that.
It's such a stupid reason but that's his rationale.
My birthday is in January and the same thing would happen to me. My mom still jokes about how it always snows on my birthday. I don't think its that big of deal though. I don't think you should wait because the baby might have snow on his birthday. He/She will be fine. I don't think I have emotional damage from having snow on my birthday. This might not come out right, but at your age, I don't think he should trying to plan what the best month would be to have a baby. Some women get pregnant right away at 40, others are not so lucky. You just never know.

Re: Is it crazy to time a pregnancy? Need advice.
I relate to your husbands rationale for not wanting a winter baby because I wouldn't want a winter baby for the same reason. Then once we started TTC I didn't really care anymore when the baby would be born for the same reasons these ladies have mentioned. Also so many of my friends and families have winter bdays and I don't recall there being too much of an issue. My bro used to be able to have superbowl bday parties too! If you can't "convince" him maybe you can come up with compromise. That's what marriages are made up of right? Maybe instead of 4 months start TTC in 2 months. You can use that time to really get into a fitness progeam and healthy eating and tracking your cycles to prepare for pregnancy too. Good Luck
