Is 2 months long enough???

I haven't really taken dd out yet, other than a few walks locally. Considering that its summer, do u think that at the end of her second month i can start going out? I'm so nervous for her to get sick, but i am seriously starting to go CRAZY staying in all the time. We do go to my moms, but other than that we are homebound. Even if i could go to the supermarket or mall it would break up my day and help keep me sane. I also have a toddler and he is also getting bored of the house!

Re: Is 2 months long enough???

Many moms here took their DC out after a few days. I think we took our DC out to stores after two weeks, maybe. Probably sooner than that.

Re: Is 2 months long enough???

During the summer months I think it is ok. I have seen MANY newborns out this summer already at the stores. Just keep her in your arms or covered. However, I have noticed that most people just smile and do not dare approach a newborn, I think it is an unspoken rule! Good luck and congrats!

I had DS out right away. Slow at first and then I became more daring. Taking DD on a quick errand to ease yourself in is a good idea Chat Icon

Re: Is 2 months long enough???

I would! Just watch the heat and sun, but the mall or something would be perfect.

Re: Is 2 months long enough???

yes! get one of those mosquito/bug nets to put over your stroller and take a walk early in the AM (before it gets hot) or late at night when it cools down. the drs generally say to avoid malls, public places and places where there are kids but you can definitely go outside!

Is 2 months long enough???

I took my ds out every day starting around 2 weeks for long walks in the neighborhood... Especially if it was nice out... He was born in may... And I had my 2 year old dd here too... So I had to take him places like target etc before he was 2 months... Just to stay sane! He is one now and has never been really sick... Just a common cold here and there

Absolutely go out! Being inside for 2 months is not good for you, your toddler or your newborn.

We've been out in stores since about 5 weeks. I keep her in the carseat with a blanket and the shade over her. Sometimes people peek in and comment but no one has gotten remotely close. I would definitely get out!

seriously get out of the house. They will get sick in the house or out. Your family brings just as much germs as they are exposed to out of the house!

Re: Is 2 months long enough???

I'm impressed that you've made it so long. My DD will be 3 weeks on Thursday, and I've decided that 1 month is our cutoff for staying in, or I'm going to lose my mind! As it is, I try to take her on walks, weather permitting, and will bring her to family and friends' houses, which the doctor said is fine. I think my ped would prefer if I wait until her 8 week shots to go anywhere public, but I will lose my mind. I only have 11 weeks home with her total!

Re: Is 2 months long enough???

I took DD out at 3 weeks, and she was born in January. As nervous as I was, I couldn't fathom keeping her away from everything for 2+ months - I would have gone crazy, and besides that it doesn't guarantee she wouldn't get sick anyway.

I took precautions and just didn't let anyone anywhere near her when we were out.

I was out at BRU a week after DS was born. Pediatrician had no issue with it. Happy Mommy = Happy Baby
