Irregular cycles?

I know I need to get to the doctor, I'm overdue for a visit.. but I've always been irregular (outside of when I was on BC for many years). Irregular as in 40-70+ days..

I'm up to 73 days right now and I know I'm not PG. Does anyone else have this issue? We are not "officially" ttc, but I'm worried I'll have issues.

I do! My cycles have also been around 40-70 days. Never in my life less than 40 (without being on BC pills). My last cycle was 74.

After that 74 day cycle I went to the doctor, and she thinks I might have polycystic ovarian syndrome. It's pretty common - like 7% of women have it - and it's possible that my only symptom of it is the irregular cycles. PCOS means that you have a hormone imbalance, which would cause you to not ovulate most (or all) months, even though you bleed. She sent me for blood tests and I'm having an ultrasound next week.

I don't know if I have it yet, but if I do, there are medications I can take to help me ovulate.

There are lots of girls on here with very irregular cycles like yours (and many of them have had babies and are trying for #2 so don't despair!). Everyone is SO helpful and I've learned so much from them, and you will too. Good luck!

I had irregular cycles as well and went to an RE, and now my cycles arent that long at all. When you are ready to TTC, I would def. look into an RE.

I know many women who have irregular cycles and still get pregnant.

But regardless, you should definitely get checked out

Yup, totally irregular cycles. Everywhere from 34 to 54 to 85 days and anywhere in between. I kept track for two years before we started TTC. Didn't really help since they were all over the place, although I did notice it would flop back and forth kinda regularly between 34 and 59 days every other month sometimes.

I got PG after 3 months TTC. I was shocked. I thought it would be so much harder to get PG because of that.

ETA: I was going to see a doctor about it but didn't end up having to. Just discussed it with my regular GP. I had a cyst on my ovary two separate times during the two years since going off the pill, but they went away on their own after my cycles.

I am irregular and was irregular before and after the pill. I am on CD66 or something crazy like that right now. I went to the dr last week and saw no signs of anything wrong with my ovaries or uterus, so its just my hormones out of whack. We have been TTC since March and havent had any success yet.

My advice for when you are ready to TTC is to do all your research before deciding which path to take to TTC. DH and I just "winged" it for the first few months and when nothing happened I decided to try the au natural route and do acupuncture and drink my red raspberry leaf tea. The women on these boards are filled with great advice and success stories so you will be in excellent hands when you do TTC.

I wasn't irregular until I started TTC! I was 30 days like clockwork then all of a sudden I was all over the place (although my 'long' cycles are only like 43 days). Best of luck!!
