FYI: Long or Irregular cycles

I took an herb called Vitex (chaste berry). I had really long cycles. I was o'ing at day 24. I started taking it this past month. And I just O'd at day 17.

I thought it might help others with long or irregular cycles.

"More recently, science has validated the fertility-enhancing properties of this dynamic herb. Vitex has been shown in several clinical studies to help stimulate and stabilize the the reproductive hormones involved in ovulation, cycle balance, and menstrual regularity. These studies also document a statistically-significant increase in fertility among women using vitex, with more pregnancies than in control groups using a placebo."

Hmmmmmmm - very interesting!! At what point in your cycle did you begin taking it - did you wait until the start of a new cycle or sometime in the middle of one?

I got it at GNC. They sell it at most places where you buy vitamins/supplements.

I took it on CD1 and stopped once I o'd. It says it can take anywhere from 1-3 months to work....but it helped my first month using it.

You should, as Jamie said, stop once you O. It is not recommended for pregnancy.

Re: FYI: Long or Irregular cycles

I have been taking it for the past 6-7 months...

I don't need to take it to regulate my cycles which are very regular but I take it for my progesterone levels which are very high (after I ovulate) causing my boobs to be like ballons and other PMS symptoms...it really works...it regulates your hormones......I take it through out my cycle...I also get it at GNC...

Re: FYI: Long or Irregular cycles

thanks! I just picked it up at GNC... right now my cycle is so screwy - I am on CD 58 and have not ovulated... I am going to take this and see what happens... if I don't ovulate by 5/10 I am going to my OB/GYN again.

Please keep in mind that it takes at least 3 months before it starts to work and makes a difference...

It doesn't always work...My friend had 60 day cycles took it and nothing (she took it for about 5 months)..she needed to be put on Clomid....

Good luck...

Thanks for the info! I have never had a cycle this long since being off BCP, so I don't know whats going on, but its worth a shot!

How much are you supposed to take each day?
