Irish twins!
At a work function last night a retired coworker was asking me when I was due etc. He then says, "so your kids will be 2 years apart? Someone's having Irish twins!" And he just kept saying it. My mom taught me to not correct my elders so I didn't.
You'd think in our line of work he'd be really good with numbers and such!

Re: Irish twins!
My MIL says Irish Twins a lot, because she's well...IRISH lol. Anyway, from what I gather, Irish twins is when you have them back to back right? Like you have a baby and then like 6 weeks later get pregnant with the second? My two boys are going to be 19 months apart and I don't consider them Irish twins at all

Re: Irish twins!
Yup, Irish twins are under 12 months apart. And maybe that's not common knowledge, but this man was Irish! Lol.

Re: Irish twins!
Irish twins are born within a year of each other! My brother and I are Irish twins - he was born in early August and I came around less than a year later in July! We are about 11 months apart.

Re: Irish twins!
It's technically 12 mths or less, right? My kids are 13 mths and 1 week apart, and I get that all the time. Even DH refers to them as irish twins. it bugs me, but i don't know why. i guess i'm big on technicalities :)

Re: Irish twins!
DH and his brother are exactly 12 months apart- same exact birthdate 1 year apart.
I refer to them as Irish twins. I think it's 12 months or less apart

Re: Irish twins!
Its actually more than within 12 months. It has to be in the same calendar year. So 1 baby born in January 2012 and the other born before Dec. 2012.
My grandpa's cousin was one of 18 kids and there were 3 sets of "Irish twins". So I learned the true meaning of it very early on. Coincidentally, we are Irish!

This is what I always thought were Irish twins- have to be born within the same year, so they would probably be in the same school class.
