Introducing yogurt questions
Dd is 8.5months. I'd like to start to introduce yogurt to her. Can she have Greek yogurt? Also did anyone buy plain yogurt and mix in their own fruit? This is what I would like to do.

Greek is fine. I started with the Yo Baby organic yogurt. The fruit on the bottom. It was fine.

I bought plain whole milk yogurt and mixed it with fruit purees. I don't think I've seen greek whole milk yogurt and I don't think you want to give low or no fat at that age.

My ped recommended any full-fat yogurt. I buy Yobaby plain and mix it with fruit sometimes, otherwise they eat yobaby flavors.

Any yogurt is fine as long as it is full fat.
DS started with Yobaby or gerber at I think 6 months.
I just always bought flavored ones but see why you couldn't mix your own.

I did exactly this--just bought a big plain Stonyfield yogurt. That way I could make different flavors depending what I had on hand.

We get plain whole milk organic yogurt from Trader Joes. When she eats it we mix it with fruit.

Re: Introducing yogurt questions
We started with yobaby around 6 months and dd loved it. I then realized how much sugar is in them and stopped giving. We now buy plain yogurt and I mix in stuff. Usually cinnamon, honey (she is 18 months) and oats or I buy frozen berries and mash them up and add them, just like the packaged ones.

Wow I need to go look! I didn't even realize! DUH! That's always the first thing I look at and I didn't even do that this time. Which plain yogurt do you use if you don't mind me asking?

I have been using Wallaby organic plain. I have not found it with whole milk, only 2%, but dd eats other full fat products like her milk and cheese so I don't stress it too much.

Re: Introducing yogurt questions
I bought a tub of plain stony field organic yogurt. It was the only organic brand I could find that was full fat. Also bought organic blueberries and am going to make a blueberry sauce.

Leb please post if there is a recipe for the blueberry sauce. Is it just pureed blueberries? If so, I can get some from fresh direct since they're in season. I think my girls would love this! They love plain yogurt w/fruit on the side.

Re: Introducing yogurt questions
I always mixed fruit purees into DS's yogurt at that age. I'd even mix in cereal & he'd eat that every morning for breakfast.
