Introducing Nathaniel Joseph!
First of all, I want to thank you ladies for all of your support not only during the birth of my son but for the past 9 months. I really loved sharing stories, fears and all the crazy things us pregnant go through during those months.
Now for the good stuff!
So at 40w4d, I had a scheduled sonogram to see how the baby was doing. Everything looked great, the tech weighed the baby, he was around 8lbs 3oz. She then measured the amniotic fluid. It was really low. She told me that she would be right back because she had to call the doctor. She comes back in and tells me to go to hospital right away. I start crying because this is really happening, I'm finally going to have my baby.
Off to LIJ we go!
I get to admitting, they do another sonogram just to check and then they start prepping me. I was so scared and filled with emotion, I couldn't squeeze hard enough to have her get a vein for the IV. She had to do it the hard way in my wrist, it was more than painful and still is sore.
They put me in what is I like to think as "pregnant purgatory" because I was in a room with ladies that weren't ready to go yet. I get my first dose of cytotec which was not only not fun but since it's so tiny, it became lost inside of me. I did not enjoy the digging to find the buried treasure!
Long story short, I had 4 doses of cytotec and by the third round I had terrible back labor. So bad they had to give me a pain killer, the name escapes me, which was awesome at first. My OB came in right after and asked me how I was doing and I told him "Life is beautiful!" as my eyes crossed in relief.
It is now Thursday morning and they have me on the painkiller which at first was awesome but quickly realized that I had to be rudely woken up for every horrible contraction. Not to mention that I haven't eaten since 12pm on Wednesday. Finally, I'm starting to dilate and was 3cm and 100 effaced. They bring me to L&D to start the pitocin. This was late Thursday night
I'm still in a lot of pain and crying, begging for a C-section, when they finally let me have an epidural. Yay! I absolutely loved the epidural. They have to give you the warning that the epidural might not work and all that jazz but I was very lucky to have no complications. The anesthesiologist was fanfreakingtastic!
I went through a few nurses because of all of hoopla that two sets of twins were being born, all of them great but the one with me for my delivery was amazing. She got me through and coached this stubborn lady a pretty good delivery.
I pushed for an hour and 40 minutes, gave up a few times but the nurse really was like a cheerleader. My poor DH was in charge of ice chipping me after every round of pushing. It went by pretty quick but I had to remember not to push with my face. SO HARD TO REMEMBER!!! POOOOPPPPPP!
At 5:09am on Friday, the doctors finally got him out, not my OB but at that point who really cares, and he was amazing. I could not believe how much hair he had. He came out wailing with his awesome cry and wide awake. My DH was freaking out and crying and all he kept on saying was "Hi, Hi, Hi" and "I love you" to our son. He was finally here! I couldn't believe this beautiful baby is our son. This entire time I was worried that I would have a weird looking baby, amongst many other things but he was perfect!
I cannot stop looking at him. I'm utter disbelief that he is ours. I want to eat his tiny, wrinkled hands and feet and gnaw on his little belly! I love him so much. I write this as my DH sleeps next to me and my son sleeps in his rocker making the cutest noises. I love my two boys, they make my life complete, fill my heart up so much that my chest feels like it wants to explode with happiness.
Nathaniel Joseph born on March 4th at 5:09 am at 20 inches long weighing 7lbs 15 oz.

Wow! What a story! I'm sorry that your delivery ended up being so complicated (and long!) but Nathaniel Joseph looks perfect so it was all worth it.
