Interesting question for Moms of kids on the spectrum.

Does your child have Clindodactyly (pinkies that curve inward) or a deformed ear?

I took Ava to an Endo today at Stony Brook. First thing he mentioned were her pinkies- and he even gave it a name. She has had curved pinkies since birth. I have asked her Ped and they said it was nothing. She also has a deformity at the top of one ear that an ENT picked up.

When I looked it up, an article said there was a link between these issue and Autism.

Only 1 of the many Doctors that we have ever seen have said she was on the spectrum. WHat do you make of this? Any one else's child have this?

ETA- I mean the top of her ear, not the lobe.

Re: Interesting question for Moms of kids on the spectrum.

Both my boys have ear issues. Not sure if I'd use the word deformed but my 7 year old has one ear that flops, and my 3 year old has 1 ear that has a crimp in the top. My nephew who's PDD has 1 weird ear too. All my other boys have normal ears.

SO weird your saying this because my mother and I have often discussed the ear thing and Doctors looked at us like we were mad. At least I know I'm not totally crazy!

She has one ear that "flops" the ENT called it Lop Eared. I am following up with the Doctor in 3 weeks and will update.

I'll have to check DD's fingers in the morning! My pinky actually curves inward-as does my index finger.
DD has funny ears. Not a deformed ear lobe but they're like pixie ears!

My child has neither of those thing. But interesting reading this, because my sister was just pointing out tonight that my niece has a deformed ear. She is just 2 days old. The top is really thin and looks much different than her other one.

Oh yea I forgot to add that one but all 6 of my boys were considered off the charts with their headsize. DS#2 (typical) and DS#4 (PDD-NOS) were the 2 worse. Ironically my Autistic son had the smallest out of all.
