Infant Car Seat/help Registering? 22, 32, or 35lb?
What is the most realistic size to get?
I was thinking the lightest one b/c I live in the city and it will be easier to use in & out of nyc taxis. And easier on the go with the snap and go.
I know the 35lb will last longer... But....realistically will I really want to carry the seat around, in and out of the apartment, cabs,etc....with 30+ lbs in it?? So maybe I am better of getting the lightest one....and then just switch to the next car seat once they outgrow the infant convertible car seat.
Then if I have a large size baby, it may be a waste to get anything other than 35lb weight limit?
What would you ladies suggest?
Thanks again for answering all my questions.

Are you talking about which infant carrier to get? What brands are you looking at, so we can help you better.

I had an average size baby but she gained weight pretty quickly..we go the peg perego SIP 30...and by the time she was 6 mos she was out of it...It's heavier than the Graco and my arm was literally going to fall off carrying her anymore..it really depends....I know ppl that used the carrier until the babies were the weight limit, or you have me where the coupled with the infant carrier and DD I couldnt' carry her anymore...but I wouldn't recommend the Peg just bc it was soooooo heavy....I told DH I want the Graco the next time around, he wasn't thrilled that I want to buy another one

I was looking at the Graco Snugride, which will work with the stroller.

I found the Grace Snug Ride 22 to work well. The seat was light and DS wasn't in it until 22 lbs. He actually got to the length limit first at 7 months (which was 29 inches) and that was fine.

ditto, except I have a giant baby, he's nearly 20lbs by 5m
But lucky for me, I don't carry him around in there, I use stroller to get around, and drive on a rare occasion.

Loey was a big baby... 8 lbs, 13 ounces at birth.
we didn't need to switch out of his infant carseat until 6 months! we had the one that holds up to 22 lbs.
he was always 99th percentile for length and weight and we STILL could use it up to 6 months... we actually could have gone longer but decided to switch for his comfort.

Joey is 9 months (roughly 19lbs) & is still in his graco snugride 22lb infant seat. To be honest, you can't go wrong with whichever one you get. I'll probably retire it soon ( ) b/c he's just to heavy in it! BUT I love that thing, it's SO convenient w/ the snap n go!!!

I would say get the one with the highest weight limit- that's what we went for. We have the Chicco KeyFit 30 which we love! I was concerned too, about carrying them around in it when they get really heavy, but someone made a great point to me- when they get too heavy to carry in the seat, just use it as a carseat- leave it in the car, and when you go out, just take them out and carry them. HTH!

Re: Infant Car Seat/help Registering? 22, 32, or 35lb?
You will absolutely NOT want to carry your DC around at 30 lbs in an infant carrier. My DD is like 18 pounds and I don't want to carry her around anymore - it's A LOT of weight to carry, esp with a purse, diaper bag, etc - I can't imagine using it at that weight. I'm in the city too and have not yet come up with a reasonable solution to the cab situation once she's out of the carrier (which will be soon actually because she's very tall for her age), but the truth is we don't really take cabs that often anyway - we tend to walk and occasionally use the bus or subway so maybe it won't be much of an issue anyway.

we have the graco snugride 32 and love it.. out DD was in it till 13 months when her little sis started to use it. realiastically when she got bigger yes it got heavier, but we used the snap and go so i only actually carried it short distances and thought it was well worth it.

We have the chicco key fit 30 and it holds up to 22lbs. let me tell you..DS wasnt even 22lbs when we put him in the convertible seat b/c lugging a 20lb baby in that seat is no fun. I'd stick with the 22lbs. anything more than that will be hard to lug around. (at least for me it was...)

Re: Infant Car Seat/help Registering? 22, 32, or 35lb?
I have the Graco Snugride 32. DS is 5 months old and 16 lbs 6 oz and I am finding it to be VERY heavy and don't think we'll be using it much longer. The only reason I haven't switched to the convertible carseat yet is because I only have to carry it of the car to attach to the Snap n Go. Otherwise, it stays in the car and I just carry DS in and out of the house most of the time. I can't imagine using it up to 32 lbs.

get the lightest......
when ds was 20lbs I didn't want to and could barely tote it around. then you switch to a convertible facing backwards

Re: Infant Car Seat/help Registering? 22, 32, or 35lb?
i had a travel system but unfortunately was in a car accident and had to replace the car seat so I bought the snugride 35, it's super heavy and i wish i noticed it before i bought it, it's too wide to fit into highchairs when we go out to eat so we have to bring his snap n go stroller when we go out.

get the lightest! DS is only 3 months and about 15.5 lbs. I cannot imagine carrying him IN the carseat at 32 or 35lbs.
Even at 22lbs, i doubt I will use the carseat as a snap and go. At that point, ill probably just take him from the carseat and put him directly into the stroller
