IHOP is going to become IHOB
They won't say what the "B" stands for. I bet it's Breakfast. Is that too obvious? What do you think the "B" stands for? Will people still call it IHOP?

It won't be a real change. I read that it might be a promotional thing for a pineapple upside down thing they may release.
Ihob.com isn't registered to them, there's nothing submitted on the stock exchange. Basically, nothing legally official.

Based on what I've read, they're really not. Sales at IHOP and Applebee's (same parent company) are doing much better than last year, so the company seems very solid. I guess more betterer is always a good thing...

Yeah every time I pass an IHOP on the weekend it's packed. We used to only go there on weekdays that I was home because the wait on the weekends was so long. But now that DH found out they use PANCAKE BATTER in their OMELETTES we are banned from ever going there again! LOL #ketoproblems

They say it makes their omelettes fluffier and "heftier". I have had their omelettes in the past and didn't really taste anything different with the pancake batter, but for someone with dietary restrictions, it's an issue. The menu lists the calories, but not a macro breakdown, or the fact that it contains the batter which can be an issue for people who can't have gluten, who can't have sugar/carbs, diabetics, etc

B is for Burgers. A reddit person said he is an employee and they have been training on burgers the past few weeks. Some others confirmed what he said. Taken down now as I guess they got in trouble.

If it really is burgers, that's a misguided move. There's already shake shack, in n out, five guys, smashburger, etc who've got the burger market covered. Nobody wants a burger with pancake batter in it! At least, that's what I automatically thought. Dude, nobody's going to buy your burgers!

Yeah gross. I wouldn't go there for burgers. It actually kind of skeeves me out. And if you just landed on this planet and never heard of IHOP and saw- International House of Burgers, you wouldn't think it was a breakfast place- which is their main market. Stick with what you know.

A ton of places use pancake batter in their eggs - scrambled and omelets. Most diners and breakfast places do.
I think this is pretty well known with people with medical issues to gluten/carbs - I was informed by my kids doctors to always ask about eggs.

I honestly had NO idea about that until he found out through an online keto community, nor would i ever in a million years think they would put pancake batter in eggs. It really is not something that seems logical. So I don't think it's so well known. Either way with the way food allergies are, it really SHOULD be noted on a menu and not assumed people know that there is pancake batter in the eggs. Because I would never think to add pancake batter to my eggs at home, and I don't think it's such a common thing. It really should be noted. When you order eggs you are expecting... eggs. Not pancakes

I've been diabetic for over 30 years, and I typically order eggs/omelets because there *shouldn't* be any real carbs in there. I had no idea that they had batter in their eggs!

Exactly. This is not a common thing IMO. They really should have to put it on the menu. It can be dangerous for some people.

They already have burgers on their menu, and have had them for a while, so that can't be the reason for the "b"....
They also have wraps and salads.

Their on-line menu does say that their omelets are "Made with a splash of our famous buttermilk & wheat pancake batter!"
It's still not something I would have thought to check...

Re: IHOP is going to become IHOB
But I don't think diners do and another poster said that it's common in diners and other breakfast places too.
Like we don't eat enough carbs in a day, we need to add it to our eggs- a carb free food.
