If you're a FTWM, does DH help with night-time feedings and wakings?

DH has never helped with the night feedings/changings, but I have been on maternity leave until tomorrow, so I wouldn't have wanted him to get up when he has to work. I EBF and co-sleep, and I stopped changing DD in the night unless she poops, so there is nothing for DH to do. No point in him giving her a bottle - I would just have to get up and pump anyway.

I was a FTWM for the first 2 kids. We both got maternity/paternity leave and we alternated feedings. When we both went back, we still alternated.

For our 3rd, I was at home. DH and I still alternated at night and when he went back we continued-I was home with 3 kids, I needed sleep too!

Also, for the first two we FF. For the last one I BF but we supplemented right away.

My DH is a SAHD .. hes with her all day and then when I get home I take over so I can spend as much time as possible with her. And yes, he absolutely gets up with her at night whether I have work or not. We both split the responsibility.

i would say that 99% of the time i dealt with all the night wakings.
I am a FTWM but it didnt bother me to go comfort the baby.
i also nursed, so i would pick up the baby and bring him or her to our bed. the baby would either just stay with us or i would return the baby to the crib once they were asleep.


as they grew into toddlers, they slept better and didn't wake through the night. if they did, i would bring them to our room or rock them back to sleep. Occassionally, i would have DH bring our child to the room but i mostly dealt with night wakings.i didnt mind and it was easier for me to put them to sleep. they wanted me anyway and it would take longer for dh to put them to sleep, so i took one for the team and i have no regrets.
