If your baby skipped crawling..

How old were they? dd is 6 months and is mobile- she sits up and goes back onto tummy on her own. She can crawl backwards but still hasn't figured out how to come forward.

She is trying to stand, but falls forward (almost looks like she is doing the downward dog Chat Icon )

She can "stand" when she is leaning against the couch cushions.

How is my baby growing so fast?!

This for sure is a precursor to walking! DS did everything but this and there were serious bets place on him walking by 9 months. He decided to crawl at 8, and was speedy little powerful crawler by 9 months. Didn't bother to try to walk again till 12 months. And he was doing that downward dog the whole week before he took his first walk around the apartment. And running by 14m. Chat Icon

My whole family was so sure he'd walk early, because we all did. We all skip crawling and all walk by 10m.

DS didnt skip but seems like you DC is on right track to crawl. Your DC is not late on crawling many dont crawl until 8-9 m or more.

DS was 5.5m and on belly pushing backward, pulling up to stand and even sort of cruising touching another toy an walking into it at 6.5m and officially crawling. Just before 7 months. .

DS was cruising around the furniture around 9-10 months.

By 11 months was taking 5-10 steps between us.

At 11 1/2 months was full on walking.

A few days after his 1st Birthday he sort of figured out how to crawlChat Icon Still at almost 3 years old he is awkward when he crawls around!!

Re: If your baby skipped crawling..

Give your baby time! My DD's doctor told me that I should not encourage her to not crawl and walk because I want her to walk early....he said that crawling helps build very important muscles in their arms, abs and legs that will help them stay strong as walkers and as toddlers. DD didn't start crawling for real (she was doing the military crawl for 2 months! lol) until about 3 weeks ago....1.5 months shy from 1!

She didn't skip crawling but walked by 9 1/2 months and did everything your dd is doing. She did downward dog for a little while. She might wLk early but that doesn't mean she will skip crawling

Re: If your baby skipped crawling..

Dd doesn't crawl at almost 9 months but she is standing on her own and takes steps so I think walking is not far in her future. She started standing and cruising at 7 months.

My DD never really crawled. She started taking steps with assistance at 12 months old and by 15 months was walking independently. She crawled for the FIRST time the day AFTER she started waling on her own at 15 months. She did it once and never did it again. Ped never cared, it's not considered a milestone anymore so I never sweated it. Chat Icon
