If your DC skipped crawling..
when did they start to pull to stand and cruise?
DD just turned 9 months. Maybe she is still too young for me to be thinking about this but its starting to bother me more and more.
DD does not crawl, not even close. She used to roll around just fine, but now only wants to sit up (i think bc I kept putting her in this position). If shes on her belly she will cry (and shes not a crier). She will reach for something, look like shes getting into crawl position, but then if she cant reach she will sit back on her butt. If shes on her belly, she doesnt even really push up with her hands.
Now when I stand her up and have her hold onto something, like the leapfrog table, she still looks wobbly. Either she will fall back on her butt or her legs will slowly start to do a split as if she doesnt know she can pick up her legs. She cant stand for long and I dont even feel comfortable being a few inches away from her bc I know she will fall.
I guess I am just posting this bc I see other children her age and younger already crawling, standing and cruising. I know I shouldnt compare, but im just wondering if theres something i can do to help her along...or if shes still too young for me to be worried. Also, she was a big strong baby so I'm surprised she seems so unstable when standing. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Re: If your DC skipped crawling..
with my first, it bothered me that she didn't crawl. it's hard for them to pull to a stand when they don't crawl b/c they don't go up on their knees to grab things. they only pull up on things they can reach from sitting or with some help.
both my girls didn't crawl. DD1 was taking about 10 steps on her own at 10 months and 6 days, she had shoes before 11 months. DD2 was doing 18 steps the day before she turned 10 months, and got shoes last week at 10 1/2 months. my oldest didn't crawl until 13 months but didn't do it regularly then (b/c she could just walk there). DD2 is getting onto her knees and rocking now.
ETA: encourage tummy time, if you can. DD1 never tolerated it. Both my girls were rolling fine. we use a walker and they lived in Walking Wings from about 7-10 months b/c they just wanted to be up on their legs. if they aren't going to crawl they might as well develop some way to get around!

Re: If your DC skipped crawling..
Carlie wanted no business crawling... she would try to get herself around, but just didn't want to crawl properly...
She started maybe closer to the end of 9 months, and then by 11.5 months she was walking... So... don't stress... I just figured my daughter didn't want to do it and that was that... Just give it a little more time.

Thank you for sharing your stories! So funny...about 90% of the time when I hear babies dont crawl, they are girls.

Re: If your DC skipped crawling..
My DD will be 9 months on Wednesday and does not crawl. She never liked being on her belly and when I try, she usually just rolls herself over. When she does go one her belly, it usually only lasts a few minutes. She would rather sit and play.

Re: If your DC skipped crawling..
Do you put her in an exersaucer or a jumper? I feel like my DS got a lot of his leg strength from being in these. He also wanted no part of crawling, would cry everytime we did belly time. He was kind of worming his way around and I kept putting him on his hands and knees and I myself was on my hands and knees crawling around the living room and then one day recently he took off! (he is 9 months also)

Re: If your DC skipped crawling..
My DS did crawl but I wanted to tell you that he was over 9 months old whne he started and he never tried before one day just getting up on all 4s and going across the room.
I used to try to prop him up on all fours hoping he would try to crawl but he wanted no part of it. Then one day he just took off. He only crawled for a short time, very rarely did he cruise and then at 10.5 months he went off walking!
