If you saved clothes from DC#1 for the next...
did you actually use them or end up getting rid of them anyway?
I have saved all of DS's clothes from the time he was born up to 12 mo. b/c some he never wore and some he only wore once he had so many clothes. After 12 mo. I am thinking I dont need to hold on to them anymore but I am finding it so hard to part with them I hold up the clothes and look at how little they are and then look at my baby who is now 18 mo. old and realize he is growing into a little boy
We are going to TTC#2 this winter which would make the next baby a fall/winter 2009 baby so chances are the clothes I have saved from DS if it is another boy he won't be able to wear anyway b/c the season won't be right for the sizes, KWIM? Or if I have a girl next I would have to get rid of everything b/c I am not going to hold on to everything for another 2 yrs. in case we try for #3.
UGHHHH....why is it so hard to let their clothes go? And I dont even have any friends and family with baby boys so there is noone to hand it down to that I know which would probably be easier...or am I just being an emotional nut?

Re: If you saved clothes from DC#1 for the next...
I saved mostly everything. My boys were different seasons so many things did not fit but I waited to see if they did before getting rid of them. I had a girl in between so they were in my attic for a but but nothing really went out of style. If anything, it was fun to have the old stuff on the second boy. I relived the joys of the outfit, if that makes sense. As they get older, they wear a size longer so 2T and up, my DS #2 will definitely make use of the clothes that were DS #1's. #2 still got his own goodies, bc I can't resist sometimes.

Noah has a TON of hand me downs from Robbie. As a newborn he wore mostly new stuff - but as he got bigger he started to wear more of the gently used stuff from his big brother. I also buy a lot of new stuff without thinking and wind up with a huge excess. He currently has FORTY pairs of jeans in sizes 3 and 4.

Re: If you saved clothes from DC#1 for the next...
I would hold onto it still. Landon is growing out of 6 month clothes now and even wearing some 12 month things now... he just turned 4 MONTHS!!! So even if it is a different season than your first the clothes may still fit.
ETA: my sister gave me all of her son's clothes and Landon wears them all! Many of the things Billy only wore once or twice, so it is great that Landon was able to wear these cute almmost brand new clothes again.

Re: If you saved clothes from DC#1 for the next...
We had a lot of gender neutral stuff from dd since we didn't find out ahead of time and we got a lot of clothes as gifts ahead of time. So all of that stuff I was able to use for ds.
I still save it all, DH says we're done but I'm holding out hope. Otherwise my brother and his wife asked me if they could have it when they have kids.

I'm holding onto mine for future DC... If my DC can't wear them then I'd like to pass them onto my sisters who don't have any DC yet.

i saved over 4 years of my ds's clothes. then when i found out we were having a girl, i let all my friends with boys take what they wanted, and donated the rest. i had so little gender beutral stuff. now i get tons of hand me downs from my friend who has twin girls.

Re: If you saved clothes from DC#1 for the next...
I'm holding onto to everything for now. Jack was soooo off in the sizes he wore (always very big) so if the seasons don't match up there is a chance they would still fit another baby at the right time.
It is so hard to let them go though - I know how you feel!

Josh was a big baby...but sort of stopped growing once he hit 16 mos. I swear he's been in the same size for a year now.

Re: If you saved clothes from DC#1 for the next...
I saved everything! I said to DH "Ya know we are going to have a girl next time around..LOL" I will NOT part with it until I know we are 100% done with having children and that won't be for a while.
I did get rid of stained clothes and clothes with holes, but, that was it.

I am saving my favorite things only because we dont have much space to store it... the rest I am giving away, as a matter of fact I am preparing a package to send to my grandma in Poland, she knows some people that really need the help...

I saved the clothes and used them again. My DD's even wore/ware their big brothers clothes (well PJ's around the house). I love having pictures of all 3 of my kids in the same outfits

DD#1 is 4 and DD#2 is 2 months...
We are currently using all the clothes we saved! I'm so glad we saved everything - clothes, swing, bouncy seat, playmat - even my boppy!

Re: If you saved clothes from DC#1 for the next...
Hold onto it. My younger DS was bigger than his brother, so even though I thought the stuff wouldn't fit him for the right seasons it did anyway.
I did make sure that for each child I put aside the outfit that I liked the most for them and kept it in their memory box.

Re: If you saved clothes from DC#1 for the next...
We are having a in December and she will be wearing what we put our DS in two years ago. Lucky for us both babies are going to be born in the same month....December so the size will fit just right( well almost if she is smaller than what our DS was) and season as well.

Re: If you saved clothes from DC#1 for the next...
My first was girl - I saved them but had a boy. No #3 for me....
I ended up swapping clothes with a friend. She made out on the deal Thankfully a nice mommy on here helped me out!!
I'm hoping my cousin has a boy or my best friend if she doesn't. I have TONS of boy clothes I'd love to give to some mommy!!! If neither of them have boys I'll be offering them up on the boards or donate.
ETA I CRIED when I actually had to hand my DD's clothes over to someone else. BUT what the heck was I going to do with them. I kept a few of my favs and now I'm over it.
