Dear tiny infant Jesus...

Hey, um... you know sweetie, Jesus did grow up. You don't always have to call him baby.

Well, considering CHRISTMAS is to celebrate THE BIRTH OF CHRIST - we refer to him as BABY JESUS

I was quoting Ricky Bobbi from Talledega nights.

I'm very much Catholic and understand what Christmas is about.

Dear tiny infant Jesus...

Hey, um... you know sweetie, Jesus did grow up. You don't always have to call him baby. It's a bit odd and off puttin' to pray to a baby.

Well look, I like the Christmas Jesus best, and I'm sayin grace. When you say grace, you can say it to grown up Jesus, or teenage Jesus, or bearded Jesus, or whoever you want

RICKY BOBBY! That was the BEST scene in that Movie!!! Chat Icon

ah, ok, not everyone saw the movie, so your comment could be taken out of context when seen with the naked eye and not knowing the context

When I was growing up, Santa put the baby Jesus in the stable after midnight. We'll carry on the tradition with DS.

at midnight on Christmas Eve the youngest person present puts Jesus into the Nativity - it also has a green bulb that we change to red and we say a prayer

recently we started to sing happy birthday too!

We do this almost exactly the same way... except that my sons both do it together... can't have THAT fight! Last year they both conked out before we got home so Baby Jesus didn't go in the manger until 7am on Christmas.

so far so good - however NEXT christmas my niece Cecilia will have her new baby brother Augustus and if HE gets to do anything without her. . . well there MAY be some problems Chat Icon

Re: If you have a nativity scene...

This reminded me of an old SNL commercial where they say "now you can hear the sounds of baby jesus all throughout the season"...

It's supposed to be jesus crying after he was born and it sounds like a demon, lol. I'll see if i can find the video on youtube

I never thought of this. I just put the nativity scene under the tree to celebrate the "occasion", not the actual timing.

DS waits until midnight Christmas eve.

A friend of mine used to go around his old neighborhood taking all the baby Jesus' out of the nativities & would leave them a note that He would return them to their rightful places on Christmas Eve. He was young the first time he did it, and the neighbors got a kick out of it, so they did this every year......weirdChat Icon

i know i should wait - i'm just afraid that if i don't put Him in when i'm putting up the set, that I might forget Chat Icon

we keep him hidden right behind the "barn" or whatever it is LOL

For us it is about keeping a tradition alive that meant so much to me when I was little.

My parents really felt it was important for us to understand that Christmas was a celebration of the birth of our Lord and Savior. So each night in December we would read a little bit of the Gospel. We would read about Gabriel speaking to Mary and about her blessing. We would read about the travels and troubles of following the star.. but we never got to the bit about Jesus being born until after Midnight Mass. We would come home and my father would say "REJOICE! The newborn babe is born!" with so much joy in his voice and eyes. And we would make a big deal out of putting the baby in the manger. I remember that I grew up knowing that this holiday was about WAY more than trees and lights and presents - the biggest thrill I got was from knowing that Christ was born on Christmas Day. And I guess I want my kids to feel the same way. I hope that they get half the thrill I got.

I know it's goofy - but maybe you had to be there. Chat Icon
