If you have a nativity scene...
do you put baby Jesus in the crib prior to Christmas Day?
We do - but was wondering how the rest of you handle? I've heard where people sometimes wait to put him in

Re: If you have a nativity scene...
No, the baby Jesus goes in at midnight on Christmas Eve.
When my family is over for dinner on Christmas Eve my aunt's husband thinks it's funny to chant "Free the baby Jesus!" over and over for about an hour.

Re: If you have a nativity scene...
at midnight on Christmas Eve the youngest person present puts Jesus into the Nativity - it also has a green bulb that we change to red and we say a prayer
recently we started to sing happy birthday too!

Re: If you have a nativity scene...
DH waits until midnight Christmas eve.
A friend of mine used to go around his old neighborhood taking all the baby Jesus' out of the nativities & would leave them a note that He would return them to their rightful places on Christmas Eve. He was young the first time he did it, and the neighbors got a kick out of it, so they did this every year......weird

Re: If you have a nativity scene...
We had a scene growing up. We would put Jesus in Christmas morning. That "is" (we can discuss the probable birth month of Jesus in another thread... ) when Jesus was born. Christmas eve is the night before he was born, so he shouldn't be in the manger yet.....

Wow..I never thought about it.
I just put my nativity set together and put Jesus right in there with everybody else.
I might change that now that you brought this up...

It did not go over well

It's funny you ask this because we have a small nativity scene that we put on a table in our apartment. However, the Baby Jesus is missing My sister said not to stress because we still have until Christmas to find him and put him in!! I think he must be packed away in another box, but I really hope we find him!!!

Re: If you have a nativity scene...
Growing up, we always had baby jesus hidden behind the nativity set until Christmas Eve. When we came home from mass, it was usually one of the first things we did after walking in the door

Dear tiny infant Jesus...
Hey, um... you know sweetie, Jesus did grow up. You don't always have to call him baby. It's a bit odd and off puttin' to pray to a baby.
Well look, I like the Christmas Jesus best, and I'm sayin grace. When you say grace, you can say it to grown up Jesus, or teenage Jesus, or bearded Jesus, or whoever you want

We do this almost exactly the same way... except that my sons both do it together... can't have THAT fight! Last year they both conked out before we got home so Baby Jesus didn't go in the manger until 7am on Christmas.

Well, considering CHRISTMAS is to celebrate THE BIRTH OF CHRIST - we refer to him as BABY JESUS
