If you can live anywhere on Long Island...
Probably Huntington Village - I love the vibe of having all the restaurants and shops there, plus the Cinema Arts Center and art galleries, live music venues, its close to the water and not a bad commute to my job. Other than that, I would pick a beach community - or at least a summer house in a beach community.

Bayport/Blue Point S.of Montauk highway, Sayville, babylon Village. I just love the feel of the villages. I like Bayport south of Montauk hgiway because you don't even feel like you're on LI, it's so quiet and beautiful.
For Nassau, RVC or the Merrick Woods subdivision in Merrick. I love the colonials and tudors in those neighborhoods.

I grew up here, moved away for a bit,experienced other towns and there is NOTHING like it over here !!!

Cold Spring Harbor. DH has a cousin there(45k in taxes a year) but it is breathtaking! Up high on a hill overlooking water, private, 4 acres. The only thing I would add would be a stable  Ahhhh it's nice to dream LOL

45k for a home in CSH on 4 acres is actually pretty darn good!
If I had to choose LI, it would probably be where I am now or maybe Lloyd Harbor/Lloyd Neck. I like where I am from a community standpoint, I just wish the lots were bigger.

East Northport!
I moved there when I was 20 into a tiny studio apartment, and just fell in love with the town. Very suburban and i felt my neighborhood was very friendly and safe.
When it's time to look for a house, I won't look anywhere else but enopo

We moved to Northport Village almost three years ago. While it was a big change from what I was used to, I can't think of a better town to raise a family.

I would go further east. I love the north fork, southold, jamesport, laurel.
For my DH it would be ideal to live in Bridgehampton, sagaponak or watermill because his office is in Bridgehampton. He has never had the luxury of being able to come home for lunch and he works 6 sometimes 7 days a week. I would love for it to be easier for him.

This is me exactly!! I grew up in Southold and had a wonderful experience as far as the school system went, I graduated with 60 kids and received a (what i think anyway) fantastic education. DH and I just bought a home in Aquebogue and do plan on selling eventually and buying in Mattituck, Cutchogue , Peconic or Southold. Simply for the school district and lower taxes. It is nice driving and passing lots of farm fields and wineries daily. I work Iin Bohemia in a high stress job so have a commute home and as soon as I hit exit 73 all the stress melts away I feel myself physically feel better.

I'm in Sayville and I love it.
Small enough to feel connected... large enough that not everyone is in everyone else's business.
The homes are well kept and there are a variety of income levels.
And the Main street is fabulous.

Manhasset. I live in Whitestone and that is my first choice but if it had to be Nassau county def Manhasset bc it is close to home and beautiful.

but I am leaning towards moving to bay shore south of montauk- I found the most amazing condos that I like better then any of the ones in babylon village
