Thinking about going back to mask. Not liking the numbers or vaccinated people getting the delta.

After declining steeply for six months, coronavirus cases are once again on the rise, thanks to the delta variant. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported Friday that new cases are up by nearly 70% in just a week. Hospitalizations are up by nearly 36%.

How many deaths as none in Suffolk?

I have a feeling it's coming, vaccinated or not.

Since last week, I have begun wearing a mask when indoors at public places.

Probably the safest bet, at least until we see if this gets worse or not. Especially when the vaccinated rates still aren’t great at all.

I have a question. I see people now scared about the Delta Variant but how about next year and the year after that. Every year its gonna be something new. Are we just forever going to wear masks? And its alot of dreaming to think everyone including children will be vaccinated. So when do you stop being scared? or will people just realize its here forever and you just need to live with it and move on with life?

As long as there is media promoting and scaring people, some will always be worried and wear a mask. Stop testing, stay home if sick, and only go to the hospital in dire need. There has always been hypochondriacs and there always will be. The ones that run to the doctor or ER for the smallest things that don’t need to be.
Suffolk County has had no deaths and that is what the goal is. Not sure about other states as I have not looked and if anyone who is afraid of this variant would like to provide numbers, that would be great.
Many just listen to whatever is told to them and don’t really do their own research to see things are not always as bad as the media tells them it is.

You are giving out medical advice here, and that’s illegal.

Also I don’t think you even know what “doing your own research” is. You do not have the expertise to even give such advice. Google is not research and I doubt you have even picked up a journal to read and critically think about it.

Use common sense.

Stop it already.

Nor do you have the expertise to refute anything she is saying so maybe you should stop it too.

The mask mandate needs to be over for everyone. If you want to wear a mask, then do it, if you don't then don't. People are always going to get sick. The issue was providing mediation to mitigate the symptoms and not over running the hospitals, which is not a problem anymore. The testing of non symptomatic people is just ridiculous. I am sure during flu season, many people are walking around with a flu strain in them and just do not get sick. We do not test every single person to see if they have it or not. It happens with almost every virus. Everyone needs to just lay off their internet searches and live your own lives.

She is basically telling people not to go to the hospital unless they are in dire need.

Giving advice like this is illegal.

Oh please. It really is laughable how people nitpick certain people's posts. If anyone in their right mind decides not to go to the doctor/hospital because a random person suggested they wait in a general post that has nothing to do with them personally has something more wrong with them then whatever ailment they have.

If you'd like I can go back to pull out all the unsolicited advice you have ever given and see that is "illegal" as well, but I don't want the clique coming after me for being a stalker.

Omg like anyone here would even take my advice. SMH.

Hmmm always thought the ER was for EMERGENCIES. Hence the name EMERGENCY room. That would mean a dire need.

Perfectly fine. Honestly, just really sick of the mask obsession here. Or someone telling someone to use common sense or to stop watching the news. Some people take this seriously and some have lost family members and friends. If they want to wear a mask, let them. They have their reasons. It has nothing to do with common sense and being scared by the “media.”

Common sense to put on a mask, you would otherwise not be wearing, because you see a stranger wearing one that you “assume” is scared and you want them to feel better?
I have gotten attacked over and over for noticing anyone EVEN wearing one because I must be obsessed with masks but this is ok?
Funny how people have been out and about in crowds for months but there is no spikes from those places. If it is as bad as the media makes it out to be, then those places would be closing and you would have much more cases and hospitalizations and deaths.

I agree. I feel like this site is split between people who take Covid seriously and people who don't.

Shut up and mind your own business when it comes to people wearing masks.. It doesn't matter why someone is wearing a mask. It doesn't have anything to do with you and you still harp on it.

Kling klang are you ok? Serious question you are sounding a little like you did in spring of 2020.

Using the context of my previous reply to be condescending to another poster?
You got it wrong though. It’s common courtesy, not common sense. There’s a difference. But it’s looking like common courtesy may be a foreign concept for you.

I agree. I feel like this site is split between people who take Covid seriously and people who don't.

This is not even what happened. Her response had nothing to do with anything she posted above or taking Covid seriously. Let’s not twist the back and forth that happened yesterday into something else when it’s in clear English and black and white.

What really happened:
-I laughed at Nels response because the irony was funny nothing to do with Covid being a joke

-Kingklang insinuated we were ignorant and reminded us about other stuff going on in the world

-I went back on how her comparison was stupid and a deflection

-she came back on to make fun of my name, told me to get a clue and how I generalized all of Europe. Said I was incoherent.

Meanwhile I never once said anything about Europe, I posted a laughing emoji. Once again I’m nasty and get attacked, meanwhile she never responded to Nells perfect response to where she was coming from when she mentioned France. How come she never actually discussed with the person who said it? But went on a nonsensical tangent with me when I am not the one who posted the comeback about France having protest in the first place.

It’s weird how I am always the first one to be called Nasty and aggressive even when I say the least in a thread.Chat Icon Chat Icon

ETA: and I am glad she is ok because honestly her rants didn’t make any sense and reminded me of the time she attacked me for posting a joke last year. There is history with this behavior.

I agree!! It's maddening how nonchalant some people are about this.

Actually someone referred to me in that thread:

"Picturing certain posters leaning over with eyes closed and hands over ears saying shut up shut up shut up to the fact that the enlightened people in Europe are protesting anything related to Covid restrictions and the vaccine."

"Sarcasm windy.. you know natural chill Kling are the ones that I am referring to"

And then people were laughing, so I responded with how the situation is over here for me.

I probably should have responded to that quote instead, but I didn't. Hindsight is 20/20. Incidentally, the person who said that also asked if I was "OK." She said she asked it in a serious manner, but I don't really think so.
