if a store made a mistake on pricing an item...
would u make them give you the price it was marked on the item if it was less than the original?
MIL and i was just at BBB some stuffs. the item we wanted was 24.99. we saw 2 that was marked at 5.99. we took those to the register and they told MIL that it wasn't the right price. she told them you guys made the mistake. the cashier had the manager come. the manager didn't say anything and just ranged it up as 5.99

Yes, I would make them give me the lower price if the item was marked with it. I don't think they can deny that price to consumers.

Yes I'd make them give it to me for the price it's marked. I've done that at BBB also!

I disagree. People change prices on items all the time to try and get away with the lower price. A lot of times they get scared in the end and put the items back. I worked in a retail store during college and this happened all the time. We would only honor mistakes if they were made on all or most of the like items on the shelf or if the sign was wrong.

I agree
ETA-How did it ring up when scanned? $24.99? Then that is correct price. Sometimes things ring up less and in that case I wouldn't argue....
I worked in retail too

Most definitely - they should have been more careful when marking the items.

Re: if a store made a mistake on pricing an item...
I wouldn't expect them to honor a sticker on the item. I would expect them to honor a 'scan' tho.
I would guess this manager was lazy. It's not that hard to go back and check the price on an item.
I have had Target give me a $100 desk for $10 .. She rang it up as $9.99 but it was supposed to be $99.99 with a 10% discount. She got confused and called a manager over. She explained it poorly and the manager gave me 10% off 9.99 and basically brushed the cashier off. I felt bad for her. I, too, have worked retail register.

No-if an item rang up differently than it was priced I would probably say "hey, it's priced at XXXX, why did it ring up more". But, if the price that came up was the correct price I would just decide if I want it at the correct price or not.
I wouldn't hold them accountable for someone's mistake or a crook's pricing scam.

Re: if a store made a mistake on pricing an item...
If it has a sticker on it for a lower price then what it is ringing up for, you are supposed to get it for the price on the item. I have worked in retail recently and this rule has been in effect for every location I worked at. Most of the time it is a problem with the item not being put into the computer at the correct low price. It is like when you take an item off the shelf and it says one price and then it rings up at another. I have had a few fights in some stores because of that. It isn't my fault that it is priced wrong. Most places will honor the price you tell them. If not then I ask for a manager or I leave the store.

MIL was paying and i was chasing DS around so i'm not sure what was rang up but the same item was marked at 24.99 right before the register. i think we all know that the at item was not 5.99.
it would not be something i would take advantage of but MIL said that happened before at BRU and they gave her the lower price.
eta: maybe they would have said something if that was the only item she bought, thinking she might have changed the price but she spent almost $300 there - maybe the manager let it slide

Re: if a store made a mistake on pricing an item...
if it was definitely store error then yes, I would try to.
DH got an incredible guitar for a steal because the store misprinted their coupon flyer and then honored it (they let him apply the discount to an expensive item because they didn't exclude it in the fine print, even though they had meant to)
