I Think I'm Pregnant-Warning Long
Hi Ladies,
I am posting under an alias. I am a frequent TTC poster and have not posted this info there and at this point prefer to keep my identity under wraps. I am posting here thinking you girls might have some experience with this. I apologize if this isn't the correct forum.
First I want to wish all of you congratulations and a happy & healthy pregnancy!
Here goes (Again I apologize for this being so long)
I O'd and BD with DH on Dec 24th. Took a PG test on Jan 1 and it was a BFN and then got AF on Jan 2 and she was gone in the usual 4 days. OK fine on to the next month-at least I thought. On Jan 13th I was woken up by cramps. On Jan 15th I started spotting. I called the gyno and went in on Jan 17. By then I was bleeding like I would with AF. In her office I took a PG test and to my utter shock it was BFP . I had an internal sono and they saw nothing. Perhaps it was too soon?
The gyno said it was one of three things 1. An natural M/C ( I wouldn't have even known it had I not gone to the doctor) 2. A pregnancy with some unusal symptoms 3. An eptopic pregnancy...please no
She took my blood an confirmed the pregnancy. My level was at 400. The next morning Friday I was bleeding quite heavily. I went in for blood work again on Sat and my levels dropped to 200 which was comletely indicative of a natural m/c. I continued to bleed throughout the weekend. The bleeding stopped on Monday.
I went in yesterday for my final blood work. The doc called me this am to tell me that my homone levels have increased by 4 X and are at 1200 (again ) She is completely baffeled. I need to go in tomorrow again for blood work and a sono. She said that it's too high to be an m/c or an eptopic.
Ladies, I have no idea what to make of this. Part of me wants to be pregnant (desperately) and the other part of me is scared to death bc how can a fetus survive under those conditions. If it did/does I am terrified it won't be a healthy baby.
I don't know if I am looking for advice, am venting or need hugs.

Re: I Think I'm Pregnant-Warning Long
There have been plenty of cases where women bleed heavily during the first trimester and the baby turns out pefectly healthy.
I hope all turns out well for you.

wow.
is it possible (and this could be totally impossible, I have NO idea) that you were carrying twins, and one fetus miscarried and the other fought and is holding on?
I hope you get the answers you are looking for!

Wow. All I can say is that becoming pregnant truly is a miracle and that ANYTHING is possible. My SIL bleed heavily for the first couple months and went on to have a very healthy baby girl who is now 16 months old.
I hope everything is ok and your dreams come true

WOW
What a nightmare. I am so sorry you are going through this. I can only imagine how I’d feel and it’s not pretty. I have no advice, but this is of course my own biggest fear (m/c, unhealthy child, etc) and I feel horrible you are so scared right now. I guess all you can do is hope for the best because one way or another this thing has to play itself out.
Again, so sorry this is happening to you. I hope you’re willing to share the results one way or another.
Good Luck and Hang Tough

Re: I Think I'm Pregnant-Warning Long
That did happen with my mom, she was carrying twins, didn't know it at the time, lost one baby bled and was still pregnant. Do the beta levels go down though? Thats strange. Good luck figuring this all out. Please FM if you need to talk!

Re: I Think I'm Pregnant-Warning Long
This exact thing happened to my SIL a month ago....reading your story was like listening to my SIL's....
Her case was an ectopic pregnancy.....her levels dropped then went up to around 3000...she got the shot which didn't work and had an emergency surgery to remove her tube.....
I am not a doctor and this might not apply to you but your case sounds very similar.....I do hope that it is not the same and you don't need to go thru what she went thru.....
Dropping HCG and then raising are not normal...even if you would have a vanishing twin the HCG should not drop and then raise again......this would only indicate an ectopic pregnancy.....
I hope that you get your answers soon....you should see something at your next sono (you start seeing something only when the levels reach over 1000) that is why you did not see anything before...

I was going to say the same thing...they call it vanishing twin syndrome...that may be your circumstance. I certainly hope so....

actually this is not true. it is the embryo implanting that causes the hcg to be produced, and twins typically cause the body to have higher than normal levels of hcg - so if one twin "vanished" or died her levels would go down right away, and then increase as the second embryo continued to grow.

I hope you get the answers you are looking for! This is what I am thinking...a "vanishing" twin...
I am not sure that the levels dropping to 200 would be supportive of this theory, tit is possible, I think.
I say go to a high risk for another sono. I have a great Dr. but when things in my PG were making her go she sent me to a place that had the most sophisticated machinery and educated staff.

Re: I Think I'm Pregnant-Warning Long
I hope everything turns out ok for you. I do not want to make you worry more, but this is what happened to me with an ectopic pregnancy last year, and my levels did go about 1000.
The dr. should do a sono and more blood work to keep checking the betas, but I'm sure he/she will.
Good luck.

Hi,
First I am sorry you are going throug this. I have been there and it sux! The nurse is wrong though because I had an ectopic with a level of 1350...Have you had another sono and saw anything in the uterus? They should be pulling yoru blood every two days to monitor hcg and progesterone. Good luck to you
