I really can't stand people sometimes
So the other day a few of my co-workers and I were deciding where we should go out for dinner for a little group get-together. I suggested a place that apparently was too far for one of the girls. After I told her it really wasnt that far at all she said to me with attitude mind you "well I have to be home early for my child....you wouldnt understand because you dont have kids." Now I consider her my friend...she knows everything about what DH and I are going through with IF....she knows about all the IUI's and m/c's I've had. So why would she say something like that???? I didnt say anything back - I just stayed quiet but thought to myself "Gee thanks Einstein... I must have COMPLETELY forgotten that I dont have any kids, I must have completely forgotten that I'm dealing with IF. Thank you so much for reminding me" 
Come to think of it I should have said "yeah I dont have kids just like you dont have a husband"

What a thoughtless comment! I'm sorry that she hurt you like that. It was a stupid thing to say, hopefully she realizes that.

UGH! If she knows everything that you've been through these last few months and she still said that, then she truly isn't a good friend. I wouldn't want someone like that in my life. It was horrible for her to say something like that and not even realize it was wrong. People are so dumb sometimes. I would of said that comment about not having a husband, but we are better people then that and at least we think before we speak. If you seriously want this girl as your friend I would tell her how she hurt you yesterday, so it will never ever happen again.

You know what you're absolutely right!! And if there's one thing I've learned from such a hurtful comment is that I will seriously reconsider who my "friends" are. Its a shame I have to feel this way at all.

Ugghhh. I am so sorry! She was thoughtless and selfish.
I had similar comment from someone who I consider a friend before the holidays and I told her "well it's not for my lack of trying, thanks so much for your reminder".
I could tell she was embarrassed after I said it, but never apologized.

Comments like that REALLY get under my skin!!!
First, thanks for the reminder that I don't have kids. And second, just because I do not have any kids does not mean that I have absolutely no clue about anything kid-related!
