I need your opinions...

My DH doesn't understand why we can't use the same nursery theme/bedding that we used with Caiden. He said we can't afford new stuff. But I told him that my mom is paying for the bedding/nursery decor. I can get it on Ebay for $50 cheaper brand new. He continued to say that we can use that money for other stuff. I said other stuff is being bought for us as well. He didn't say anything.

Is it just me or would you not want your 2nd child to have the same nursery theme? To me, that was Caiden's room for 2 years. It was his. I would like for this baby to have a "different" looking room. This baby is going to have to have all of Caiden's baby stuff. All except some clothes are going to be hand me down's so why give me a hard time about this? Am I being stupid and there's nothing wrong with using the same theme or do you understand where I'm coming from? This baby is not Caiden, you know? He's a different person! I don't know! Let me know what you think! Thanks!

I agree with you and it sounds like you have figured out an ecnomical way to do it!

Being the second child, it is not always fun getting the "hand-me-downs". If Caiden got new stuff, this baby should have new stuff. You may not be able to get everything new, but at least give this baby their own identity.
I definitley say a new theme for the new baby. Plus - YOU need to feel like this is a new baby, not the second time around from the first one.

I agree with you. You want this baby to have different things. Is Caiden's stuff in good shape still? Maybe you could sell it?

Caiden's bedroom stuff is in excellent shape. Most of the stuff just sat there. I'm going to get everything together this weekend and take a picture of it and post it on Craigslist first. If nothing from Craigslist, than maybe Ebay.

I mean almost everything this baby is going to use will be Caiden's stuff. The bouncer, car seat(s), swing, high chair, glider, crib, changing table/dresser, some clothes, toys, etc.

I would definitely want new bedding. I deliberately registered for gender neutral stroller, high chair, car seats, etc. because I know if i have a second I'd want to reuse some of that stuff...but bedding I'd want a new set!!!

We are definately getting new bedding when baby #2 arrives - and this time we will be doing gender specific. Everything else that we already have from our DD we will use again (stroller, highchair, bouncy seat etc.). But IMO the bedding/nursery theme should be different.

If and when the time comes we will probably use the same nursery stuff because I LOVE LOVE LOVE our nursery and it's neutral but that's just me.

I would want new stuff for the new baby but depending on how badly we needed money for something else I could probably make and do and maybe paint another color or something since they really don't use the bedding all that much. I hope DH can see your point.

We just went through this dilemma. I was going to use my DS comforter set until we found out we were having another boy. When I told my DH that I would like to buy a new set for our new little , he wasn't so keen on the idea until I showed him a few sets I liked on ebay. Once he saw them, he like them as much as I did. Shockingly, when I went food shopping he surprised me and bought the whole set plus the mobile and wall art.
Maybe showing your DH a set that you both would like, would change his mind.
If all else fails, bring on the waterworks and blame it on the hormones! LOL
