My BFF said the same thing, it's the age. She said her DD was a nightmare from 3 to 4. So much for terrible 2's............it's totally the terrible 3's!! At least I am not alone! Chat Icon

I too was SO mortified. All that was going thru my head was, "Heather must think I am an awful mom who is raising the demon spawn of the devil". Chat Icon Chat Icon I swear, my child was possessed today!!!! That's the only explanation for the awful behavior that I witnessed. Chat Icon

We have our JCPenney pics tomorrow and I am DREADING!! DREADING!! She was a nightmare at her 2 year shots- that was really the beginning of the terrible twos for her, right on the nose. But here I am, willing to try again. She's just gonna wanna run around JCPenney and jump on the couches like last time.Chat Icon Chat Icon At least it's a cheap groupon deal. Chat Icon

Re: I just want to cry!!!

um..been there..

last month at JCPenny i had to carry out jack screaming for his bday pictures. I had to come back the next morning, 10am when they opened and we got some decent shots. He's 2 and starting the tantrums, throwing himself. He will not sit still for a split second.

then, sunday i used a local photographer and took holiday pics at a local nursery. from the teasers, they already look like SH**. Jack will not sit for a picture if is life depended on it. I hope its a phase b/c then i'll never have a family pic for a while.

i think most kids go through this phase. I hope it ends soon. Chat Icon

I'm sorry! At this age, kids really do have very off days, moments, hours. My daughter is usually so good, but there are times i am so mortified because she throws a fit and i swear people are just giving me dirty looks.

heather is great. she did pics of my two girls last year, and they went pretty nuts. despite their nutty behavior, i loved my pics.

maybe you can do another shoot. and if not, you will have a good story to tell her about why one year she has no christmas photo. maybe when she is taking pics of her uncooperative 3 yo child, it will make her smile :)

When my DD was turning 3, we took her to Kiddie Kandids. I spent a fortune on a bedazzled tank top, tutu and and barrette fro Denny's.

She was and still is not an easy child, but this scene should make you feel better.

She wouldn't sit, smile or go near the props. I was frazzled, sweating and overwhelmed. I beggggged her to cooperate for just one picture.

She smiled 1x and 1x only. The photographer tried to sneak in an extra shot and DD looks her right in the face with her hand on her hip and says......

"If you take one more picture, I'm going to poop on your rug."

That was a wrap!Chat Icon

Re: I just want to cry!!!

I know you wanted that perfect smiling, angelic photo for your xmas cards...but i say make lemonade here. Use the best of the 'worst' photos and make it a humorous card. I'm sure people will LOVE it. Something different...definitely something people will remember.

She's mostly fine, she just has these wacky moments of insanity. It's like, once she gets something in her head a switch flips and you just can't get her to cooperate. She's just testing. 3 yrs olds............OIY!!!! Chat Icon

Re: I just want to cry!!!

3 is a really trying age....I couldn't believe it when my DS turned 3. He was the happiest, most easy-going little guy. I LOVED being home with him all day, we had a blast...

Then he turned 3!! It was like a switch went off. Mood swings, being defiant, freaking out in situations that he never had before. I was warned, but I thought my kid would be different because he was soooo sweetChat Icon

The best thing that helped was I tried to go into every situation expecting things to go haywire. Like your Christmas shoot, we had episodes like that too. I also try to have a sense of humor about it, that helps a LOT.

Also, trying not to get my hopes up, but he has been getting a bit easier in the past few months. He will be four in two months, so I am hoping he is starting to settle down...until the next crazy phase!!

Sorry about the picture experience...sometimes all we can do is laugh...even though at the time, it is not so funny!Chat Icon

Heather is awesome! She did my DDs 1 year pics/smash cake and she was so patient. Chat Icon

Last year, took the kids to Sears. DS (at age 3) cried for every. single. shot.
Couldn't understand why?
We tried. Tried. Tried.
I was sweating, DD was looking at DS, like "Darn it, just smile so we can get outta here" and the worker..eeehhhh didn't care much for her which is why we switched over to Target.

Last years Christmas card is of my DD just staring at the camera and my DS crying holding a train and matchbox car! LOL

Quite a few people loved the crying shot, but, it broke my heart!

It's definitley the age!

Re: I just want to cry!!!

I tried taking the kids to Target. It was a last minute thing, but DD would not even stand for the photographer. I can only imagine how frustrating it was to hire someone like Heather, and have nothing.

I'm sorry! Chat Icon

Sounds like what I am going thru. My DD has been an ANGEL since birth, honestly..........she's always been a dream child, but now she's gone a bit batty. All of what you described, she does. I guess it really is an age thing. I have a loooooong way to go until she's 4, she was just 3 in Sept!! Chat Icon

She's a mom tooo, plus she photographs kids, I am sure she has seen it all!

She is very patient and easygoing. We had a photoshoot with her last month and Aa wasn't himself and just wanted to climb up the step to go play with her son's toys.

Don't feel bad. How far away do you live from her? Maybe see if you can reschedule and have her come to your house where your daughter will be in her territory and maybe feel more comfortable.
