I just had it out with the salon manager (update)
W T F is wrong with people?
We made the hair and makeup appointment for my wedding (me, moms, and bridesmaids) WEEKS AGO.
First, we had yesterday's problem of the price all the sudden changing $15 pp. Well, they're honoring the lower price they quoted, so fine.
Today, she tells me there is not enough time to do all the girls' make up. EXCUSE ME? Why didn't you tell me this when I made the appointment TWO MONTHS AGO?
Salon lady "Well, let me tell you what brides do, they make these appointments and then they wind up canceling the bridesmaids."
Me: "I don't care what other brides do. I made these appointments weeks ago, and I intend to keep them. If this was going to be a problem, you should have told me then because I never would have booked with you."
Salon lady: "Well, I don't even have their names. I just have Maureen (my mom) and Kara + 6. I don't even have names."
Me: If you needed names, you should have asked when you took the appointment. I don't think you really need all of their names just to take the appointment. If you did, you could have asked weeks ago.
Supposedly they have another makeup artist they can call in to help out this morning, but that's no guarantee. She's supposed to call her to ask her today. She better call me back today.
THEN she has the freakin' nerve to tell ME that she's trying to do me a FAVOR by calling this other makeup artist, etc., etc. She's trying to "help me out." I had it at that point. I told her "I made these appointments over 2 months ago - You were there, my mom was there, and the makeup artist was there. Nothing about this was said. So I'm sorry, you took the appointments, finding a way to honor them isn't doing me a huge favor, so please don't treat it that way. Please call this girl right now and call me back RIGHT AWAY. You know as well as I do that I'll be hard pressed to find someone to do makeup for 6 girls in 3 weeks time."
Then she had the audacity to tell me, "This is why I called you back yesterday, and it's not my fault you didn't call me back yesterday." (Like one f*cking day would make a difference. I said "You were supposed to call me back right after the makeup artist got in at 1 o'clock. You called me after 7!"
She tells me, "Yeah, well I was here until 8 o'clock."
I told her, "Oh gee, I'm sorry I didn't get back to right away, I was in the HOSPITAL with my FATHER who just had OPEN HEART SURGERY!"
I managed not to raise my voice (though it was a struggle), but I made it very clear to her that I am extremely upset and floored that they would do this to me three weeks before my wedding. Then she tells me, "I'd never want to upset a bride. Ever. My daughter's getting married, too, I'd never want to upset a bride."
Guess what, YOU JUST DID!
I'm LIVID. This is a VERY nice salon. I've never in my life been treated like this. It's too late to switch now, but my wedding day will be the LAST day I step foot in there after this. I'm going back to driving all the way to the north shore where they appreciate their customers just for a haircut b/c I will NEVER allow myself to be treated this way again.
I'm FUMING. Then my favorite part is "But you and your mom have your appoinments all set and hair for the girls is all covered." BITE ME LADY. WE NEED THE MAKEUP APPOINTMENTS, TOO!
UPDATE:
She called me back right away to say it's all set and everything is taken care of. She also gave me a VERY long somewhat sincere apology. Not enough to keep my business, but enough to keep my business for this wedding.
It's almost over, right?

Just my 2 cents, after paying for all of my BMS to get their hair done- they won't appreciate it and BMs can get away with not having professional makeup.
I know it sucks how it went with the salon, but you never know- it might end up being a big savings to you in the end!

I'm not paying for the hair / makeup. They are. They want to do it, actually, which surprised me... so I'm just doing what I can to make sure they can get it done.
Right now (if you read the update), it's all squared away... thankfully. I don't want any more "surprises."
