I just bought bottled worm poop
Yup, it's exactly what I said. Worm poop in a bottle.
TerraCycle found that worm waste (otherwise known as castings or poop) make an amazing organic fertilizer for plants & lawns. They took the 'green' route one step further and package their product in used soda and milk bottles too, which I thought was pretty cool.
They have expanded to include a lot of products but for me, they're notoriously hard to find. I called the two places in my area that are supposed to stock some of their products and they had nothing.
So I just ordered two of their Garden fertilizers with hose sprayer attachments and I'm excited!!
I'm generally not big on fertilizer, I prefer not to stress plants by forcing a lot of blooms with high nitrogen. I do have a few plants that are profuse bloomers though that do need periodic fertilizing to thrive. At least this fertilizer won't add salts into the soil, burning the plant roots, since it's more balanced.
Just wanted to share, if anyone is looking for an alternative to the Miracle Gro type things on the shelves out there.

I watched a show segment about them. It's a really cool company, and a neat process.

Re: I just bought bottled worm poop
My brother has a big bucket with a worm farm in it and harvests his own worm poop. I think this is a better way to go, LOL.

Re: I just bought bottled worm poop
Michelle, I know someone who has one too and I looked into it but it seemed like a lot of work. It's like having hundreds of pets.
I don't actually know what kind of worms they use, but I do know they use a LOT of them!

Re: I just bought bottled worm poop
sounds great. i don't put chemicals on the lawn b/c of the kids and dog, but this sounds like a good idea.
I just released my ladybugs in hopes of them feeding on the aphids in my tree (so I didn't have to use a pesticide) to stop the dripping sap! I hope they work for me!

It's an automated process. The put worm food material at the top of a very slow slanted conveyor belt, and the worms eat the new food towards the top. What falls off the bottom of the conveyor belt, and begins to be bottled, is nothing but good, healthy worm poop that the worms have left behind.
The man on the left is the founder.

Let me tell you I have a rose bush that I fertilize with DDogs poop and the thing is amazing. I think any kind of poop fertilizer is great

Glad to hear it! It arrives on Monday.

How big is the tree? Soft-bodied insects like Aphids can be battled with a mix of Neem Oil + dish soap + water. The oil suffocates them and the dish soap helps it stick. Also, they are attracted to the color yellow, you could find yellow sticky traps or fill a yellow bowl with dish soap and water so they drown...
I've only had aphids once and used the oil/soap/water on them with success. I hear they are really tough bastards.
