Re: I have the biggest wall EVER to decorate and seriously need help!

How about pulling the sectional away from the wall and placing a narrow console behind one side of the sectional. Stack some books of interest and interesting objects of art on top. It won't look messy if you balance it our correctly-i.e. shorter pile of books, means smaller item on top (small desk watch) Taller pile of books could be a starfish. Mix in there tall artifacts, like a lantern. It creates visual interest along with an area to rest a drink. Hang frame/s after if you choose.

Also, I recently discovered this website to creat canvas art of your digital photography.

It's big enough to hold another piece of furniture. Something that can go from floor to ceiling like a clock or decorative shelving. I'd definitely do a print or mirror with sconces on either side.

k, since you mentioned the chairs were there just until you found something you liked what do you think of this?

External Image

Because the wall is so large I would do a few different things. Either a collage of pictures of your family. Collage of different types of pictures or mirrors of different shapes and sizes.
This is just an example, you could do it any layout of color scheme you'd like

External Image

I've done this in my home. Granted my wall was smaller. But this is an idea of what mirrors and vintage artwork would look like in my color scheme.

and last vinyl lettering sayings are always a good way to fill space and look great.

I love that chair but do you think its weird to have a sectional and then a loveseaty type thing there?

I wish I had that many pics but its just me and DH and I have no idea how I'd come up with that many pictures to hang! Chat Icon

No def. not weird. I like that it offset each other. It's from JcP too.

I don't have many pictures either, since it's just me and DH and our cat lol. But you can also do scences too. Do you have something you like? Like movies ? Or hobbies?

We did a collage in my husbands "man den" of all football action shots. It came out great.

i would get a chair in a cool pattern to replace the two chairs you have there now (like something the poster above mentioned) and look into putting a shelving unit or storage unit to the left of it. You can fill that with books, pictures, knick knacks etc and it will help break up the large wall area. Then you could put either one large picture over the couch, or go for a picture collage of many different size prints.
you could also find fabric you like and stretch it around a wooden frame to create your own art

That works with everything but your rug. So if you plan on keeping rug, I'd say try to match somewhere w that. It doesn't have to be exact... and it could be a bold piece that matches just right...

i think a blueish chair would go the best.. you've got brown/blue/sage/beige in your rug and you've already got sage walls and a beige couch.. so blue would be the best option for a chair.
I like the last option posted above Chat Icon

what about considering something like these too?

Re: I have the biggest wall EVER to decorate and seriously need help!

I would turn that room into 2 different rooms..

pull that couch closer to the TV and then the area where the couch is now I would make a conversational seating area by the window..

Re: I have the biggest wall EVER to decorate and seriously need help!

I think you should pull some of that beautiful powder/slate blue color from the rug and scatter it a bit around the room (throw pillows, coloring in art work for walls, window valance). And a valance would look sooo pretty over the window....

the chairs someone posted are very nice... just pick something that matches without competing with the rug; you want a pretty rug like that to stand out.

As for the walls, do you want functionality like shelving or do you want purely decorative? If decorative, do you prefer art or memento's like pictures?

I think some warm colored wall sconces mixed with pictures would be really pretty.. but there's so much you could do. You have so much space, you could do everything!! I think you should use larger pieces to fill the larger wall.

Are you looking for any furniture to put there?

you really have great features and furniture and colors in the room... you just need final touches. it looks great so far!

I was trying to write this but it was coming out too long so I deleted it. haha... you explained it better than what i was coming up with. haha!

then she could decorate the walls according to each "room".... so as to break up the wall a bit.

That's exactly what I would do (and actually, have done similarly in my LR).

That also allows you to turn that wall into more of a focal piece, in which case I'd consider applying wallpaper to that wall in a color that very closely, if not exactly, matches the color on your walls but with a little oomph!. Maybe a tone on tone pattern, texture - anything to break up the monotony. Then add a piece (or pieces) of artwork.

What is on the opposite wall? In one pic I see part of a banister. Can you post a pic of the opposite side of the room?

These are the only pics I have at work, and I was trying to take pics of the giraffe/mirror (and this is from when we first moved in) but there are 4 steps going up into that room, then theres about 3 feet that go on the landing to another 3 steps, landing, and then 5 steps to the bedrooms/bathroom upstairs. I have a splanch...

ETA The previous homeowners had it divided into two rooms but with the sectional , I donno how we'd do that..and they had a piano which was so perfect there...

I think I got it now... so where the previouis owners had their sofa across from that is just a banister that goes all the way to the wall?

It looks like you already have your TV mounted to the wall, but what about moving it to where the previous owners had the sofa and putting the sectional against that railing?

Then where the TV and stand are now, make that a sitting area with a bookcase, 2 chairs, etc.
