I have a dilema - please help!

I am a regular poster here but for now I am in "hiding"....

I am 9 or 10DPO (due for AF on Tuesday), tested yesterday & this morning with a dollar test and got a BFP!!! it is very very faint but there!!

so at lunch I decided to get a FRER to confirm it....it came out as BFN Chat Icon Chat Icon I did use the bathroom an hour before and drank a lot of water....

do you think I had used faulty tests?? are those lines evaporation lines and not real BFP?? both lines came out within 5minutes...

Please tell me what is going on!!! should I be hopeful?? I thought that FRER is the most sensitive??

TIA!

Test again tomrrow morning. It could be the $ test needs less hcg than the FRER. If the line gets darker each day, you are pg.
Good luck!

Did the faint line on the dollar tree test show up within the appropriate time limit? (Not sure if it's 3 or 5 minutes for that one)?

I would definately hold out & test with FMU tomorrow on the FRER. The $ test could have been an evaporation line if it was within 5 minutes (the test result should be within 3).

I would test again tomorrow with FMU. This way there's no chance it's diluted.

Good luck!!!Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: I have a dilema - please help!

Don't be upset. When I was ttc, I saw on a website that those Dollar Tree tests can work with wayyyyyy less Hcg than most of the more expensive tests.

I think if you got a BFP on not only 1, but 2, you are definately PG.

I would tell you to wait a few days and test again with different brands, but I know I could have never done it....

So, run, don't walk to the nearest drug store and buy one of every test and spend wayyyyyy too much money.....(that's what I did for both of my pregnancies)

Good Luck...

p.s. I got both of my BFP's at 11 dpo

Thank you ladies!!!

The box says that the results are only valid the first 10minutes (not 3)...both lines came out within 3-5 minutes but I don't understand why the FRER is --

today's $ test is darker than yesterday'sChat Icon Chat Icon I guess I am dealing with faulty tests....

Re: I have a dilema - please help!

I would definately use the FRER first thing in the am as you will be one day closer to the day AF is due. You might not be getting a + on the FRER bc it is still quite early. I read online that you should technically not test until 16DPO to eliminate the "false negatives & positives"

Re: I have a dilema - please help!

The Dollar Tree test are very sensitive, 25ml. On some more expensive ones, you won't get a BFP til there is 100ml of HCG in you urine.

Look on the box or the insert and see the "sensitivity" it'll be states as
"25ml/HCG" etc.

Good luck, I say that you are Pg. Keep us informed and we will keep you in our thoughts and prayersChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Don't be upset. It sounds like you are PG. I didn't test positive right away on FRER even with FMU. It took a few days later than the other brands. My favorite brand which is cheap but works great and detects it early is the Equate brand from Walmart. Try that if you're worried. I also used the Dollar tests and they didn't even work right away for me. Good luck! Chat Icon

Re: I have a dilema - please help!

Don't be upset. As long as the $tree line showed up in the time limit, you probably are pregnant. At 11DPO, I tested on an FRER with FMU & I got a faint BFP. At 12DPO, again with a FRER & FMU, I tested & got a BFP even fainter than the first. In fact, DH didn't see it until I pointed it out to him under the lamp & he stared for a second. Had I not gotten a BFP the day before, I probably would've discarde it as a BFN. I continued to test with FRER's using FMU the next 3 days & got progressively darker BFPs. I even took a progression pic of all of my tests together & the one from 12DPO looks like a BFN in the pic.

So, the point of my story is that it's best to use FMU, but even with that when you are testing early you may get different results from different tests. Try again tomorrow with FMU! Good luck! I this this is it for you! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
