I have a question!

Where do you ladies go to get "rare" baking items.

For instance, those Mint Chocolate chip cookies require mint extract and creme de menthe baking chips. Doesn't seem like stuff Stop and Shop would have. Is there a certain place that has the random ingredients?

This happened to me last year too when I needed peppermint extract!

I get my peppermint extract at Stop and Shop! Did you check for those ingredients?

I bet whole foods would have them!

is yours a SUPER S&S? Mine is regular and didn't have it.

There is no whole foods anywhere near me...I'd have to go to Manhasset.

I've seen lots of these "rare" things in Walmart!

this thread is killing me!!! they all sound great!! How far in advance do you make your cookies? Also can you freeze them??

I'm knocking out half of my list this weekend, the other half next weekend. Everything goes in the freezer until I'm ready for them.

I got my peppermint extract today at king kullen. I'm subbing Andes mints for the mint chips. Wish me luck!

I'll be updating this as I go along, but so far:

1. Chocolate kiss "surprises" (although I think the "surprise" is implied by the name!) for my coworkers

2. Snickers cookies- half a batch for work party, half a batch for my parents' Christmas tree decorating party

3. Venetian layered cookie bars (for my brother's Christmas party) - Something went amiss, and these turned into brownies Chat Icon

4. Sugar cookies (Some will be Christmas shapes for Christmas day, and some will be dyed blue & yellow for Hannukah)

5. Chocolate cheesecake muffins (Christmas day)

6. Peppermint fudge (Christmas Eve & Christmas day)

7. Pistachio Christmas ribbon bars (Christmas day)

I made those brown sugar cookies. I made everything the same (tripled lol), except I used all spice instead of just ginger. Definitely tasted the spices, but it was delicious!

My list is very boring

Gingerbread, sugar cookie cutouts, russian tea cakes, jam thumbprints and meringue kisses. All done and in my freezer except the merigues which I'll make last minute. They dont hold up very well

Sugar cookies
Sugar Cookie Bars Mainly for DH, he can't have chocolate
Reindeer cookies but with sunflower butter, plain pretzels and sprinkles since DH can't have chocolate and DS can't have peanuts or dairy.
Oreo stuffed chocolate chip cookies with dairy free chocolate chips, combines my DS's 2 fave cookies. Chat Icon
Holly cookies My dd's fave
Peanut Blossoms but with sunflower butter, DD loves these
Buckeye Balls with sunflower butter and dairy free chocolate, DD really likes these too

Depending on how much time I have either a cake or cake pops. Also might make my mom's Almond Roca. I'm hosting on Saturday so I don't think it's going to happen.

I've got Chex Mix in the oven right now.
