I can't be the only paranoid homeowner right?

So this os our first home. I can' t be the only one who freaks out thinking what if that monster tree falls ? We have these HUGE oak trees on our property that if they fell would really f up the house. My neighbors have one behind my house that is even bigger than ours, that one falls we are done. Everytime it storms or high wonds I think "what if". Im not alone in my crazy state right?

You are not alone. A few years ago one of my neighbors enormous trees fell in the middle of the night. It was a perfectly still, clear summer night.
Luckily it missed our house, greenhouse & Chicken coop but it made a big mess & the sound was terrifying.

I am always afraid of trees falling or other storm damage. We always have a good stock of water & food. We have a generator & DH has tarps & even some plywood in the shed is case we ever needed it.

I hope all of our homes & families are safe in this storm

We are in the same situation AND we live in one of the areas of Queens that was destroyed two weeks ago. We are lucky nothing major fell on our house, but two huge trees did fall on our block.

I've lived here for five years and I'm always at least slightly worried on a windy day...

You are definitely not alone. We have a huge tree (partially dead) in our backyard. DH is usually more freaked about it falling down than I am.

this is the 2nd big storm i can remember while we are living in our house and I worry. thankfully we don't have any trees in our yard but the neighbors do and some hang over a little. I also worry about water. with all the terrible rain in the spring we only got a tiny tiny puddle, but I still worry, because this is going to be a lot of rain in a very short time.

we have tons of big old trees around the house... if I am not worried about getting pelted in the head with a falling acorn, I worry that the tree will fall on the house.

As someone who's tree fell down at 4am last summer... I say you are justified. I always worry about tall trees surrounding a house or sidewalk, especially the one's with low hanging branches and look old.

We have one tree on our property, which is healthy. Our neighbor, however, has a few "sick" looking trees according to DH, one of which came down on our garage and took out some of our fence in the storm this past March. We live in the town of Islip and everything was our expense , so now we worry that the others may come down in another storm.

We were told that if we write a letter to our neighbor advising that their trees look unhealthy that it is due notice and if one should come down again it is their expense. Not sure if this rule is true, but I might try it as they never said a word to us about the last tree and half of it is still sticking up above our fence with jagged edges.

We have a mature oak tree, 10 feet from our home. Then all the roots on the side of the tree opposite the house were cut, putting in our new cesspool. Talk about nervousness. If that tree fell, it would have fallen right into our home.

I calm myself by remembering that I've never seen a tree flatten a home. Usually it's damage on the upper floor/roof which sucks, but we'd be alive.

We also make sure we keep the trees as healthy as possible, which goes a long way too.

I feel the same exact way!!! I have about 4 trees that scare me, one being a monster! I don't think I'll ever feel okay with them but they give so much shade in the summer I love them.

We dont have any trees on our property but we just got into our house 1 month ago so I still have fears of something catching on fire ((KNOCK WOOD)) or roaches

So rest assured, your not the only one having sleepless nights

we had a huge one right next to our house. We had it removed.
