I can't be the only one that doesn't have checks...

I have not had "paper" checks in years now...everything is done through online billing/cc/debit....

Am I the only one?

Should I have a few just in case I ever need to write one?

The only paper check I send is for rent. The rest of the bills are online. So much easier!

I have them but if you look at my checkbook the last 50 checks or so were used for gifts! Other than that I wouldn't miss them

do you have a checking account? didn't they give you checks when you opened it?? I don't use that many, but I have them in case....and mostly I need to use them in order to set up direct deposit into something....(like direct payment at the gym, they wanted a voided check)....

Pay all the bills online but we still have them so we can write checks for gifts or if a place only takes checks.

i rarely use them but we have a couple of bills that don't have autopay set up ...like our water bill.
i also use them if i have to give a $ gift and forget to go to the bank, or send a $ gift, the dentist, lawn guy, doctors office

I do almost everything online as well, but I needed checks for wedding expenses, rent, coinsurance at the doctor, and gifts.

I keep checks for gifts or payments that can't be made by debit card or cc.

I have them - and I have bills that I pay regularly with them. I pay my farrier (horseshoer) by check, and I pay for my cleaning service by check. The water bill only comes quarterly, so they get a check instead of being set up through my bank like all my other bills. I'm moving one of my horses to a different barn, and I'll pay his board by check (I pay in cash where I am now). Once he goes into full training, I'll pay the trainer by check - now I just pay per lesson in cash.

I also use them for gifts (weddings, christenings, etc.)

I just got i ntrouble for ordering checks for our joint account. he said we didn't need them (especially since I had some from my personal account) and they charged us.

I just thought it would be easier and cute since it had our wedded name on it

Wow, I get free checks with my checking account, so I never pay for them. We don't even go through an entire order in a year, though...

The only checks I write is for when I go to parties.. for gifts. Other than that... debit & online banking for me.

I don't know what i'd do without paper checks. We have to send them in the mail all the time to people for gifts (birthdays, weddings we don't attend, etc) since we have fam/friends in NY.

Also, since we are in contract on our home we needed to write checks for the $$ going into escrow, fee for HOA docs, etc.

We also write checks for rent and I guess will now for the mortgage.

You don' t have any bills that can't be paid on-line or by electronic transfer? Do you rent or own?

I'm not sure if there is an auto payment option for my mortgage, but I own a co-op, so I have to pay my maintainance payments by check.

I don't have any bc I'm too lazy to reorder them. I hate checks bc people hold on to them.

i have paper checks for doctor co-pays although most do take credit and debit cards now, gifts and miscellaneous stuff that can't be paid online.

Can I set up paypal with my credit card? Meaning if someone wants to pay me for something through pay pal, it could go right to my credit card?

I pay everything online too, but I do have checks, like when I need to give people money presents, like for weddings, communions, graduations, etc. I also have to pay my son's school tuition each month with a check.

I do very little online bill paying. DH does a lot online but I handle my business accounts. I deal with some vendors who expect me to hand them a check when I see them. What is also interesting is that my clients usually prefer to pay me by cash or check, even with the paypal option.
