HSG-what to expect
I am getting an HSG done next week and was wondering if I should take the day off from work. My appt is in the morning and I am not sure what to expect, I am having DH come with me.

Re: HSG-what to expect
I felt intense AF-like cramping while they were injecting the dye, but the cramping subsided fairly quickly, not even a minute. I was just a little sore down there, the tech had a hard time inserting the catheder, but I took 2 Aleve and was fine. My appt was later in the afternoon, but could have gone to work afterwards if I needed to.
Make sure to bring a pantyliner, the ink can leak and make a mess. GL!

Re: HSG-what to expect
i felt absolutely nothing. i took 3 mptrin an hour before as well.
i went on my lunch break and was back in one hour.
i heard you only really feel cramping if you have a blockage.
like PP said, bring a liner. The ones the hospital gives you are like boomerangs! lol

Re: HSG-what to expect
I went in on my lunch break, it was uncomfortable for like a minute, but not painful for me. However I did not have a blockage.
Later at night I had some mild cramping. Overall an AF cycle with crampes is like 10x worse. For me it was not a big deal and I took advil 30 minutes before.
Also I remember something like you cannot pee before hand, they want a full bladder? Call and check on that because mine was in Feb and I am not positive if I am making that up or not lol.

Re: HSG-what to expect
I went to work afterwards but I was in a lot of pain while it was happening. It went away for me after they were done.
You do leak dye which is gross!!!

Re: HSG-what to expect
I did mine afterwork and it was more uncomfortable than anything...I had a bit of cramping/pressure when the dye was flowing...I also had no blockages so that prob helped with not having pain...def take some pain meds before just in case and bring a panty liner...they give you a HUGE pad and its not necessary to catch the dye.
Good luck!!!
