Re: How do you rate the customer service at your local

Hmm - well, my little local grocery store is pretty good. It is not a chain place - just Fort Salonga Market. Whenever I had an issue they were nice about it and let me exchange no problem when DH bought the wrong stuff on three different occasions lol.

That's the only experience I really had with CS. The kids that ring you up are usually pretty good - they always go to bag, even though I bag myself and give them a break from having to do it.

ETA: I would rate them at a 4 or 5!

I had quite the culture shock moving to LI...in Shop Rite and Trader Joe's, if you ask for something, the person will TAKE YOU to where it is, rather than give you an aisle and make you fend for yourself..additionally, if they are not sure, they will actually ASK..it's amazing, so I would say a 4 to 5 as well.

Given my recent post about the Patchogue Waldbaums, I'd go with a 0.

Stop & Shop Sayville - 1. I find it really irritating that the women are CONSTANTLY bickering with each other, have pusses on and tend to ignore the customer unless being asked a direct question. I seriously don't expect people to be happy all the time - especially at work - but I am in there 2 times a week minimum and I rarely see any changes to their demeanor.

(this is the one in town on Main Street - not the one on Sunrise)

It's funny- I shop at Sayville Stop & Shop also and cannot stand the service there. One of the cold cut ladies was so rude to my husband last weekend- he was furious.

I agree with Acerone- they def deserve a 2!!Chat Icon

Trader Joes in Plainview I give a 5. Fairway in Plainview 4-5 depending on who is around. Always great staff at the cheese and meat depts.

I shop at the same place, and I love it there. Their produce is always fresh. The owner is always around and says hello. The kids that ring you up always say hi how are you.. the only problem I ever have there is their expiration dates. Not to many people shop there, so the stuff on the shelves doesn't turn over quickly and I don't think they check the dates all that often. The store is always very clean though. DH and I do our big shopping at stop in shop in northport since it has a larger selection and usually better prices, but the store is huge so we usually get there once a month. both stores I would give 4 out of 5.

eta: Fort salonga market is a chain its an IGA store, but they are each privatly owned thats why some are great and others are gross.

The king kullen in wading river is good, I'd say a 4.5
The deli people are super nice & most of the cashiers are a bit more mature & are very nice as well.

Yeah we do the same thing!!! If it is a lot we go to Stop & Shop in Northport! I like the self-checkout.

Stop & Shop - Medford: in morning 3, at night 1.5
Stop & Shop - Farmingville: 3
Waldbaums - Patchogue: 1
Pathmark - Patchogue: 3
Pathmark - Shirley: 1
Compare Foods - Farmingville: 3
IGA Cirillo's - Bellport: 2
C-Town - Farmingville: 2

Supposedly a ShopRite's going to open in East Patchogue in the next few months, but that's just a rumor at this point. Even an empty space would be better than the Waldbaums that was there.

IGA- East Northport- 4
Love this store and the people who work there. The manager (whom I also believe is the owner) always makes sure to say "Hi", talks to DS and asks how we are doing.
The cashiers are very sweet. There are never any lines even at the Deli Counter.

Stop N Shop- East Northport-3
Sometimes cashiers are super nice and other times they don't say a word...that gets me, when I say "Thank You have a good night" at least they can say "thanks you too" or something..
There's always a line at the deli counter and those employees, you have your "what can I get ya"? with a sour puss, or, you have your nice ones that even offer DS a slice of cheese.

I shop and the Stop and Shop in Deer Park mostly. I use the self check out so I don't have to deal with cashiers.

When I lived in Amityville, I shopped at the Waldbaums in Farmingdale. I was happy with them as well.

I go to Pathmark in Holbrook and Walbaums in Patchogue, both maybe a 1 or 0. It depends, if it an adult that rings me up , I usually dont get annoted. But most of the time its some teenager who would rather flirt with the boys around her or text on her phone and half pay attention to me.

that's about what I would rate them as well - but I still do my shopping there since it is so close, plus it's always stocked and spotless. so I deal with the CS (or lack thereof!)

Stop and Shop in Bay Shore: 1

It's almost all teenagers working there who text on their phones while they're ringing you up and curse loudly when they're talking to each other stocking things out. I get frustrated with the deli too because they never listen to our order and always screw it up. The store itself is nice though.

DH and I call that store "Super Sexy Stop & Shop" b/c it's always young, good looking people shopping there- the one in Sayville is all senior citizens.

Re: How would you rate the customer service at your local Food Store?

negative 1
i was at waldbaums the other day to get a store credit on 3 items
one which was a big container of rosemary that was already opened when i got it home. i didn't have the receipts and the lady gave me a hard time
all i wanted was a credit & to do my food shopping

tonight i was there and i commented to dh how their produce is disgusting and there was no meat or chicken on the shelf. it looked like a hurricane was coming to town.
