how to "relax"?
So, the suggestion to "just relax" has been given to me umpteen times, and while it's trite, I'm thinking maybe I should take it more seriously.
What are your methods for relaxing in this process? And do you think to relax has to mean to not think about it? I find it completely impossible after 9 months of TTC (including one chemical) to just not think about it. So is it possible to relax even though it's something that's always somehow on my mind?
Some of the things I've started to incorporate this month with the hope it has some sort of positive effect: more frequent yoga practice, guided visualization and acupuncture. But I wonder if what I really need is some magic dust to erase the thought of getting pregnant from my mind all together! Perhaps a lobotomy!
What are you ladies doing to stay sane?

Re: how to "relax"?
Hmm, that's really tough. Obviously stress is never ideal, and if you're anxious about getting pregnant it's certainly not going to HELP anything. But the more pressure you put on yourself to "relax" the most stress you might subconsciously feel.
What you're doing is great - yoga is going to help immensely, as is acupuncture. But please don't put too much pressure on yourself to "relax", because then you have yet another thing to overanalyze if you don't get a BFP. Besides, there is no way to know if "relaxing" is really helping anything or if those women were going to get a BFP that month anyway.
I think what's more important is to stay HOPEFUL. Eventually, whether it's this month or not, you WILL get your BFP. Don't stop believing that.

I just wanted to applaud the above. Very well said! Some months are better than others and I think trying to relax can only help matters. Definitely agree with exercise...enjoy make it a month of new things! costumes/masks/toyz....whatever floats your boat. Have fun with it and laugh about it...enjoy the journey. GOOD LUCK!

Re: how to "relax"?
Next time someone tells you to just relax.. I'd ask that person what exactly it is they mean by that!! I'd just be curious what their response would be!! Like.. what.. watch some good movies? .. Get engrossed in a good book so you aren't constantly thinking of TTC? Get another magazine subscription? Go on a vacation?
Done, done, done, and done!!

Re: how to "relax"?
Ugh, this is such an annoying phrase. Honestly, if you arent TTC you would never understand that one can never just "relax". However, I think if you occupy yourself with other things then maybe you're relaxing? I really dont know. This last cycle I got my BFP I wasnt really even thinking about TTC since I had a dentist appt. that month and getting a BFP would totally throw that off, but guess what, pregnant! With only one day of BDing 3 days before O. So, I dont think anyone has the right to tell you to relax unless they are in your situation but I do believe occupying your mind may help.

honestly....not reading this board. While there is a ton of great info and great people on here it can make you crazy when its taking longer than you thought.

Yes, ITA. I absolutely LOOVE this board but I do think that it was a major stress er. It occupied my life way too much and I would start thinking I had symptoms that other girls on here started saying they had.

Re: how to "relax"?
I commute over an hour each way to work. I just started reading again and have already gone thru 3 books. I have even been reading them at home- if you can find a good one and like to read, for me, it has been a great way to relax and not think about TTC or other things that stress me out.

Re: how to "relax"?
The cycle I got pregnant... I decided to relax. I went up to the roof and I meditated in the sun a few times. I felt really relaxed after that.
