Yup! That thing works great, but only when they're still too little to fight you, lol.

Hold them down with all your might as they're screaming like you're burning them with hot pokers is the best way that I have found works. Totally worth it in the end!

Yup. I'm surprised they neighbors haven't called the cops when we snot suck DD. She doesn't even stop screaming when we're done. She keeps going and going, like a possessed energizer bunny.

No good way. DD is almost 2 and has to be pinned down by me and DH. He has to hold her arms across her chest (basically like they'd be in a straight jacket) and leans on her with his chest to immobilize her mid section and then I need to hold her head with one hand and suck the snot with the other. She usually wiggles one of her hands loose and pulls the tubing out of the blue tube making it absolutely impossible.

How to get toddler used to nose frida?
I put my 2 year old between my legs, like I wrap my legs around his body then cradle his head in my left arm and hold his hands down with that arm. It's a workout, but I'm able to do it independently.

I've found that if I just speak calmly and reason with her it works best...
just kidding, it's a 2 man job. One to restrain, one to suck.

This is what I do too if DH is not around and I give him something to hold that he rarely has which is new to him and keeps him distracted. He wiggles a little but it works.

Re: How to get toddler used to nose frida?
When DS was about 19 months, I started letting him hold the piece up to his own nose. He pulls it away too soon sometimes, but I just keep a tissue handy to wipe the string of snot that happens when he pulls it away too quick. He laughs and thinks it's funny, but he is getting better with it and it gets the job done. I guess it's less scary for him because he feels like he has control of it. It's easier than wrestling him, which is what I was doing but he's getting strong and it takes so much effort.

Re: How to get toddler used to nose frida?
We will fake use it on each other (DH and I) and make it look fun and no big deal before we use it on DC. He will still sometimes turn his head and not cooperate, but it's actually gotten a little easier towards 3yrs because we can communicate and he understands. We tell him it's not that bad, it doesn't hurt it just feels funny. And he's actually ASKED us to do it sometimes when he's congested.

I don't. Both of my kids learned how to blow their noses by a year old.

Hmm thanks for this idea! I may have to try that. My younger DS is almost 2 and really into being independent so he might be more willing to let us use nose Frida on him if we let him hold it himself. Otherwise it's impossible... he's strong & fights us hard. Great idea!

DS knows how to blow his nose now but I still use it occasionally if he is really congested. I have to lay on him a little and wrap my arm around his head if that makes sense. If DH is home he holds him down
