How Quickly Were You Able To Conceive?
For those who got pregnant within the first 3 months of trying, do you think your ability to conceive so quickly have anything to do with genetics?
Ie. your mom and sisters were also very fertile.
I just found out that I'm pregnant for the first time at 34 and the surprising thing is DH and I didn't even try. A quick conversation with my 2 sisters lead to the discovery that they both had no problems whatsoever! My own mom has 6 kids, the last one she had accidentally in her 40s!

For me, no, it had nothing to do with genetics. It took my parents over 7 years to have me, and it only took us 3 months.

my mom and my sister were very fertile.. so when DH and i started trying it took the first time. i feel very fortunate!

My mom was fertile but my sister is not. Her son is a miracle baby. I was blessed to be able to conceive all 3 children on the first try.

I definitely come from a fertile family... I pretty much decided I wanted to get pregnant and then I was. No trying involved. I'm very lucky in that regard.

My Mom and Dad were not trying (not married either) when they concieved my sister.
We didn't have any trouble either.
Neither of my two sisters have kids.

We dealt with fertility issues and it took us almost 3 years to conceive. I wish I inherited my moms genes, she got pregnant with me and my brother on the first try.

Don't really know. My mom had 5 kids (all of us were an Oops)! I got pregnant on the 2nd month of trying...
So i don't know how much genetics played into that.

My mom was very fertile, had my brother & I on first try & my grandmother had 6 kids...I got pregnant my 2nd month trying.

I got pregnant on the first try both times. No female in my family had ever had trouble, I don't know if a fertile family played a role.

I got preggo within 3 months of trying. My sister who has 2 kids never had a problem conceiving but did have problems with the pregnancy sticking.
After 2 m/c and an etopic pregnancy she finally conceived a pregnancy which stuck.

I dont know. My sister and mom always got pregnant quickly. It took me 4 months which I think is rather quick. Not sure if its genetics or luck

I think that family history can be factored in to the equation but we are each exposed to different things that can have an affect. Couple that with what your partner brings in to the picture and you can easily end up with some family members having an easier time than other conceiving.
But with that said...
My mom had no issues...MIL had no issues...DH & I had no issues and got pregnant on the first try. Same goes for immediate family but we do have extended family that have had issues.

i have no idea how "fertile" my mom is, but i know that she didn't have any miscarriages. not sure about her mom.
i am pretty sure my MIL, however, had some difficulties conceiving - my DH and SIL are almost 10 years apart.
it took me and DH a little over 3 months to conceive (4 cycles) but i have short cycles and a short LP.

DH and I weren't trying either! It just happened. We were both shocked but happy that it happened that way and we didn't have to stress out about it. We were extremely lucky.
I believe it took my mom a couple of months of trying with me and my brother.

DH and I got pregnant right away. (We were ttc though).
I'm not sure how fertile my mom was, but I don't think she had any problems conceiving given that she met my father, married him and had a baby in December!!
I do know that DH's sisters are fertile as heck (I have 13 nieces and nephews from his side already)!!

Hey Ang, I believe you're right about that. Alot of factors like your health, environment, your intake (alcohol, drugs, food) and age will determine how fertile you are too. But with all being equal. Ie. you're a healthy individually who takes good care of herself, I think genetics do play a role.
Kinda like the nature vs. nurture debate al over again. :)

However, my sister had to have in vitro in order to have my niece
We got pregnant during the 6th month of trying

maybe.... mom didn't have to try hard either...
but I really attribute it to luck of not having a condition affecting fertility. I think the fact I was never on the pill, never had an STD, and live rather cleanly (eat all home cooked food and no junk, never smoked, only socially drink)was the icing on top.
It also helps that DH is in his 20's

Interesting question.
I was off BCP and not using protection for a whole year. I wasn’t charting or checking my fertility dates or even trying much at all. Then all of a sudden I got serious and said “Ok lets do this”. I didn’t even tell my hubby cause I just wanted to get a feel for my O date and fertility dates, etc. That very same month (less than three weeks later) we were pregnant. VERY surprising for me!
My Mom is one of 7, Dad stopped his production at me (2). My father is one of 5 (with one still born) Of my 9 uncles/aunts they are all very productive if they chose to have children. Every married cousin has produced two or more as well. Seems no one has ever had fertility issues.
I never really thought of it that way. I guess genetics could have something to do with it. My grandparents on both sides were pregnant very young and their parents even younger. My grandfather was born and my great-grandma only 14! (old bat lived to 103) My Grandmas on both sides were pregnant before 20 and after 30.
The way I look at it (so far) is other than that one still birth all births were normal and healthy and I take solace in that.
Hubby’s family has no issues either.
Or it could just be Hispanics and Chinese are indeed prolific! Haha

My family is crazy fertile. My mom is one of 8 siblings, no one had problems.
For me, I got pg 2 weeks after going off the pill. Who knows what will happen next time around, but the family seems to have no problems!

hmmm well mom is definitely very fertile she had my brother at 21 not planned and then me at 27 planned after about 3mos of trying....and well dh and i tried in october and nothing but the very next month we got our bfp so i dont know if that means we're very fertile or just blessed

Mom got PG relatively easily with me, never had any MC. Grandmother was told she would never have kids, lo and behold she had my mother and got Pregnanty accidentially.
It took us 6 months which I totally thought it would take us less time considering how easy it was for both my mom and grandmother....
