How Old and How Much??
How old is your dog and how much food do you feed him/her a day?
My Puppy is 3 months and I feed her about 5-6 tablespoons a day (recommended), but by 8:00 at night, she literally beats the crap out of her food dish and seems like she wants more. Do I give it to her? She is only 4 lbs now and I don't want her to be a little fat azz if you know what I mean.

Lilly is 8 months and her feeding schedule is as follows:
morning - 1/2 cup dry topped with some wet
afternoon - 1/4 cup dry
evening - 1/2 cup dry topped with some wet
On the whole - 1 1/4 cup of dry per day with about 4 tablespoons of wet.
We give her the occassional treat - she has a sensitive stomach and we try not to go overboard with the treats.
She weighs in at a whopping 10.4 pounds. Her ideal weight should be around 12-13

Dottie is almost 2 and she gets 1/2 cup in the morning and 1/2 in the evening. Sometimes she eats every last drop, sometimes not.
She's about 12lbs.
I think you can probably give her another tablespoon or 2. Try one extra tablespoon a day and see how she does w/ that.

Usually 2 treats a day plus a vitamin. She doesn't always finish her food.

I would def give her more. She is growing fast and active.
For me, at first I measured, then I stopped b/c my dogs weren't big eatesr. I could put 5 bowls down and they would not finish even one.

9 lbs., 8 mths old:
1/2 cup wet food in morning
cup of dry food left out throughout the day
Our breeder told us to always leave a cup of dry food out so that he does not get hypoglycemic. He never eats the whole thing at once- he eats it all day long and sometimes leaves some in the bowl at the end of the day.

I feed them one cup in the morning and of homemade nautural food and some snacks during the day. The vet says this is fine.

Kasey is a year old, she's a lab so we feed her 5 cups a day. Usually 4 cups in the morning and 1 at dinnertime to hold her overnight.

Misty is three and weighs 60 pounds.
She gets 1 cup of dry food in the morning and 1 cup of dry food in the evening.
She gets about 4 large milkbones a day and that's pretty much it.

We got our dog at 7 weeks old and the vet said to feed her about 1/4 cup per meal (3 meals/day) and that was recommended by the dog food co too for the food we bought.
Now, she has slimmed down, and she eats 1/4 cup a meal for 2 meals/day and she's no longer asking for more food.
As she gets older, we'll cut it down little by little.
She's 8 months old now.

char is two years old TODAY  and we give her 3/4 cup of food per day plus her nutritious and healthy snacks. i would ask your vet how much she should be eating - i was always unsure so i just asked him and he would let me know - and as she grew i would call and ask him if i should update it/change it. when she was younger we fed her twice but then he said we could go to just once a day. i always make sure i double check with him that her weight is ideal - he said she is at a perfect weight so i know i am feeding her the right amount.

how much?
To me, your dog def sounds like she needs more food esp if she is ravenously hungry. I would not be too worried about overfeeding, I would be more worried about her not getting enough nutrients for a growing pup.
How often are you feeding her? And did you look at the dog food bag (if dry), what does it say? They have recommended food portions based on age/weight.

I feed her 2X a day, but if I see her wanting more I absolutely give her another tablespoon or 2 to snack on.
I also give her
- 2 treats a day (little tiny things)
- Nutrical Vitamin supplement 2X a day at each feeding.
- 1X a day I sprinkle Missing Link Supplement on her food in the AM.
- I also put Apple Cider Vinegar in her water as an anti-oxidant
She def. gets her nutrients, I am a freak when it comes to what goes into her little body

At her age, I would increase it to 3 if possible. She is small, very young and can only digest so much at once. Even if it is not the ideal time, I would try to get one more meal in until she is 6 mths.
