How much to tip the painter?
We are having our entry way, living room, dining room, kitchen, hallway and bathroom painted professionally over a 2-day period. How much should I tip?

Re: How much to tip the painter?
ugh, i am so sick of our tipping "expected" society. tipping in some cases is of course mandatory and a courtesy for a "above and beyond" job well done in other cases. however, tipping a painter or painters is NOT at all necessary. it is THEIR job/profession/career. whether the painter(s) is the owner or assistant, it is THEIR job and NO amount of money over the stated invoice should expected or assumed.

Nothing. I moved to the west coast and tipping trades is just not done. I wanted to tip the cable guy and my DH flipped. DH is convinced it's a NY thing!

Re: How much to tip the painter?
If they do an exceptionally good job, or something extra for you, then I'd tip maybe 25. but otherwise, nothing

Re: How much to tip the painter?
Is the painter the owner of the company that you hired? If that's the case, I would give him nada or maybe a token amount and say something like let me treat you to lunch from the deli. If he's an employee, does a good job, is neat and tidy and polite, I would tip him a bit more. Maybe $30.

That is how I feel...I didn't tip the painters we hired.

Re: How much to tip the painter?
Thanks! Wow, I tip everybody and I think I've been tipping too much anyway!
I think it will be the owner and an assistant doing the work.
